Home Melissa de la Cruz Gates of Paradise. A number of them were at the party that night, but they were anxious and suspicious, and many were talking about returning underground instead. They had no idea what they were waiting for, and Schuyler wasn’t yet ready to tell them. Kingsley had cautioned against sharing what they knew of Lucifer’s plan-fearing more traitors within their midst.

Gates of Paradise is the final novel in Melissa de la Cruz's original Blue Bloods series. There have been so many twists and turns, crosses and double crosses in the series so far that I've been dying to get my hands on this book to finally find out what would happen in the end. The book felt like a finale right from the start. It's told in the usual Blue Bloods style with chapters narrated and focussing on different key characters (in this case, Schuyler, Mimi, Bliss and Tomasia in the main)

by Melissa de la Cruz. Books related to Gates of Paradise. Brilliant read I was hooked at the start and was unable to put it down. I would recommend it to anyone.

Schuyler Van Alen is running out of time. The Dark Prince of Hell is storming the Gates of Paradise, intent on winning the heavenly throne for good. This time he has his greatest angels by his side, Abbadon and Azrael-Jack and Mimi Force, as they are known in the Coven. Or so he thinks. Even as Lucifer assigns Jack and Mimi the tasks of killing their true loves, the Force twins secretly vow to defeat the Dark Prince once and for all. But how far will Mimi and Jack go to conceal their real loyalties? Meanwhile, former vampire Bliss Llewellyn has joined forces with Lawson, the greatest wolf of the underworld, to free his people from their imprisonment in Hell. As they struggle against impossible odds, an ancient message, woven into the very fabric of time, reveals just how much depends on the success of their mission. Lucifer seeks the key to the Gate of Promise, and when Schuyler is taken captive and delivered straight to Hell, she must make an unthinkable choice-the same one the archangel Michael was forced to make during the Crisis in Rome. Will Schuyler find the strength to do what he could not? The epic, heartbreaking Blue Bloods series comes to a close with this final novel about staggering courage, unbearable sacrifice, and the immortality of true love.

Let down isn't the phrase I would use after reading this book; unimpressed, bored, and annoyed is closer to what I feel. After all, I have been following this series since 2011, so naturally I would expect the series finale to be impressive.

But it wasn't.

If anything, I couldn't help thinking about Cassandra Clare's works as I read this series and especially while reading this book. There are so many similarities I'm reminded of the time I stopped reading her book due to me feeling she was plagiarizing her work, but I got past that.

Gates of Paradise is the biggest piece of fluff in the Blue Blood series; and that's saying something, since this is a commercial series and is meant to be lighter, versus extremely meaningly. Instead of battles and intrigue, we see strings from the first few books being tied up.

That's awesome, but when the battle for Heaven's about to happen? Yeah, does not equate.

Schuyler actually back tracks to the person she was early in the series. Jack tries to change, but remains paper thin. Mimi's the only character with a ton of growth, but even that seems forced. Oliver finally has a back bone. Kingsley is as sexy as ever. The Coven is as selfish as ever.

I truly believe this series could've ended after the Van Alen Legacy, or maybe even Masquerade. There wasn't much in the way of plot in this story; in fact, the big fight scene for Heaven is simply told to us; not shown. I do not recommend this book, though I recommend this series.

This is a series completed.

So I am not going to go into details or try and sell this book. Gates of Paradise is the seventh book in the Blue Blood series and that's not even counting the three other books (Bloody Valentine, Keys to the Repository and Wolf Pact) that fit into this series. That means that you know the story and characters by now, they are old friends (or enemies) and you either want to see the story through or not.

Gates of Paradise was a fantastic end to the Blue Blood series. So many things were wrapped up and it had a steady pace until we reached the end and then all Hell broke loose (quite literally in their case). The ended revealed something I knew to be true in my heart, it had action, heartbreaking loss, deaths and at the end salvation for some. Gates of Paradise proves once again how great the Blue Blood series really was. For those who don't know there is one book, Vampires of Manhattan, and it's a spin-off of the Blue Bloods world so you don't have to let go just yet. Unfortunately I do believe that, that will be the only book, bet than nothing I say.

Gates of Paradise was the final installment of Melissa de la Cruz's Blueblood series. I have had so many ups and downs with this story, and while the ending wasn't as good as I would have expected it to be from the first three novels, it was a lot better than I thought it would be after books 5 and 6. Gates of Paradise had a rocky start, but by the end Melissa de la Cruz was able to remind me what I loved about her stories when I first read them.

The plot is really where I have problems with the Bluebloods series and Gates of Paradise. As amazing as the Bluebloods series was at first, the plot started diverging in a pretty random direction--almost like there just wasn't enough content for 7 books. It also felt like the worlds of Melissa de la Cruz's series started overlapping in an entirely unnecessary and illogical manner. With Gates of Paradise we still have the annoying inter-play between series, but we started to move away from some of the random demon-human babies and that was a welcome relief. They were still there, but their role was mercifully de-emphasized.

As much as I've struggled with the end of the Bluebloods series, Melissa de la Cruz has been able to maintain an awesome cast of characters. Her characters have certainly evolved since the beginning of the series, but they haven't become completely different people. More importantly, I like the characters--especially Mimi and Kingsley--and I truly wanted them all to have happy endings.

Gates of Paradise was a better than expected ending to a great series that started to go downhill. I am defiantly ready to close the door on this series, but it was a satisfactory conclusion. While I won't be reading any of the other series that involve this world, I am looking forward to reading different things from Melissa de la Cruz.

I really liked everything about this series. Very simple beginning but it got so complex later on and I appreciate old characters coming back in. Really loved this series so much, I wish there was a follow-up book about how things are going years later (maybe even a start to a new series with their kids?!!!) Bought the series 3 years ago and still love to go back and read through it all again. I admit I am rather disappointed of how the story ended, since kingsley had the godsfire there was nothing for heaven to fear and would have liked more on the battle. Also if God could bring back Jack then why not bring Dylan back as well? Not to mention God is totally fine with broken marriage bonds of Gabrielle and Michael? As well as Jack's? A bit odd but I got over it.
I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in a blend of history and fiction. This entire series deserves every single star :))))
