I've enjoyed William Sleator's books since I was a teenager, and "Interstellar Pig" was no exception. I felt the story started sluggishly, but once it got moving, I became caught up in the cat-and-mouse aspect of the main character's dilemma.

Interstellar Pig book.

InterSteller Pig By William Sleator 1 I'm telling you, there's more history to this house than any other place on. .A supposedly haunted house might be a welcome diversion from the science fiction books I had been reading. What do you mean, haunted?" I asked Ted again.

InterSteller Pig By William Sleator 1 I'm telling you, there's more history to this house than any other place on Indian Neck, and that's the truth, Ted Martin said, and took a long.

But now it appears we are not alone, after all," said Moyna, in a mocking, sibilant whisper. There sseemss to be a very talkative third party, quite closse b. She had been hiding, listening. She had been hiding, listening ad heard me exclaiming aloud about the silent thoughts from The Piggy, meant only for me. The secret thoughts that were one of my few advantages. How much had Moyna discovered from what I had given away? I grabbed the whip and the flashlight. "Sso you are The Piggy, and you are on my sside,'" Moyna mimicked me, lisping.

Interstellar Pig is a wonderful book that’s just a lot of good clean fun. After I discovered this one I read a couple of other William Sleator books, including the sequel to this one, Parasite Pig, which wasn’t as good. Still, as YA science fiction goes, this one is tops. I would definitely go see it! Grade: A. The photo of Plum Island beach houses was taken by Flickr user Jose Estrella and is used under Creative Commons . (Attribution) license.

A teenager becomes interested in a strange board game called "Interstellar Pig," the obsession of his new and unusual neighbors, and he soon stumbles into a nightmare when he discovers that the game is real.

This was one of my first introductions as a kid to science fiction, so this book holds a warm place in my heart.

We have our everyman main character who discovers that all is not what it seems with the neighbors next door. Part mystery, other parts science fictiony adventure/action. It's a solid adventure for younger kids who want a quick, fun read.

Imagine a scavenger hunt where everyone is looking for just one item, a special item, possibly a sentient item that wants to be found. I don't think that teaser will spoil the story for anyone, but it is the best, shortest sum-up of the story's concept as I can do.

Lots of aliens are looking for the interstellar pig (which could have been an interstellar rock, or coin, or something else and it wouldn't matter), because that's how to "win the game". A youth discovers the interstellar pig, which had been out of circulation for quite some time. Aliens start to show up, the game is revealed, and interesting events start to unfold.

Yet again, William Sleator writes an expertly crafted story targeting youth and young-adults, but is so well written that adult readers will not be able to help but to enjoy it too. I CAN NOT recommend his stories enough.

I remember this book being read to me in Elementary school long ago. Just ran across it, had to actually read it for myself, it's actually very much a complex book. It really tests your vocabulary knowledge banks, and can help push you through new words.

Barney was bored with the beach. His skin would burn in the sunlight and there was nobody his age around. Till the three who rented the cottage next door showed up. They seemed a tad strange, but that just meant they were all the more interesting. And they had a neat game, called Interstellar Pig. It was a sci-fi game, where rival aliens waged war over a item that allowed their planet to survive and all other planets to die.

But slowly Barney realized two things. One, they WERE looking for something just like their characters in the game. And two, he was NOW a player, like it or not.

Good story, but the board game sounds even more interesting, even after all this years when I first read it in High School. Would be a cool board game for young kids.

Get it used or new, good for a day at the beach.

A very interesting book to read.

One of the best books of all time.
A little slow at first but about half way through you get caught up in the mystery of it. The book is about a kid, Barney, who is stuck at a vacation house for two weeks with parents who are obsessed with tanning. He is happy to find out that his neighbors are unlike any other adults that he has met and actually don't mind hanging out with him; ultimately showing him a board game unlike any other: Interstellar Pig. As you dive into the book, the line between reality and the impossible because obscured. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the ending, but it makes sense for a science-fiction book by keeping the possibilities open and endless. Regardless, this is a book that young adults will be sucked into and a book that adults can read to feel like a kid again.
