I read this book as a young adult and the story stuck with me. Now probably 15 years later I went searching for it again and was lucky to find a used copy on Amazon. Just finished reading it again and it's even better than I remembered! I just wish there were a sequel...

I have read and reread this book many times. The characters are very real, the time travel done very "realistically" and Ms Bond describes the historical era beautifully. I felt I was there struggling to find my way in another time right along side Lyn. I highly recommend Another Shore and just wish that she had written a sequel!

This is one of the best books I've ever read--and I've read a lot! Seventeen year old Lyn travels back in time to 18th Century Louisburg, and is assumed to be a local girl, Elizabeth. Living Elizabeth's life, she struggles to get along in this time period and also figure out what happened to her. It is a most enjoyable book, and it's a shame that it's out of print. I was fortunate to stumble across it at one of my local libraries. If it's ever reprinted, you can be sure I'll purchase it in a hurry!

She will never go back. She will remain Elisabeth of Louieburg, Canada in the eighteenth century for the rest of her life. She will marry an American which her 'father' disapproves of and go to America. She will never go back. Never. Never...................... A sad tale of loss and survival, courage and heartsickeness. The saddest Nancy Bond I have ever read. Not for young children, but for young adults, a novel which broadens their palette of tastes. I am 11, I read it first when I was 7, and hated it. Now I think it is a poinient tale of love and loss. It's a very sweet story, but you must be prepared for the sadness.

Nancy Bond, who has always been dependable fordetailed background landscapes, proves she cando timescapes just as well. Captures the spooky feeling of "museum villages" perfectly. A bit dark for some young readers because she avoids the conventional time-travel happy endings.

How can someone like this book? This book was painful to read. The main charecter, Lyn, was so flat I never belived she could have existed. When she was transported to another time she didn't seem to mind loosing her mother and friends at all. There are also some holes in the story like why do all the charecters accept her as Elisibeth? I had to read this book for a literature class and with so many other good books in the world, why we read this this one I will never know!

This story just draws you in. The book is a little slow at first, but I've read it several times and I really enjoy it. The historical accuracy is astounding. I like the way the author has Lyn react with situations she's not used to (ex.bathing). This is a good book that I really recommend.
I found this to be a great novel, a little hard to get into, but once I got going found it pretty cool. What annoys me is that this book seems (to me) that there should be a sequel!
