This novel is a sequel of a well-known Patterson’s book When the Wind Blows. It tells about six children, who were able to fly owing to genetic engineering and the scientists. They managed to escape . .errible government experiments, a childhood in captivity, and deadly danger. However, finding themselves in the outer world they are about to face a danger greater than any they've ever known. The only thing the children desire is to get to the Lake House, a place of safety and peace. MoreLess Show More Show Less.

James Patterson has had more New York Times bestsellers than any other writer, ever, according to Guinness World Records. Since his first novel won the Edgar Award in 1977 James Patterson's books have sold more than 300 million copies. He is the author of the Alex Cross novels, the most popular detective series of the past twenty-five years, including Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. He writes full-time and lives in Florida with his family. That being said, this book was disappointing.

Welcome to James Patterson Book List! This bestselling author has released well over 200 books, so it can be hard to keep track of all his novels.

James Patterson is one of the best-known and biggest-selling writers of all time

James Patterson is one of the best-known and biggest-selling writers of all time. Since winning the EdgarTM Award for Best First Novel with The Thomas Berryman Number, his books have sold in excess of 300 million copies worldwide and he has been the most borrowed author in UK libraries for the past eight years in a row. He is the author of some of the most popular series of the past two decades - the Alex Cross, Women's Murder Club, Detective Michael Bennett and Private novels - and he has written many other number one bestsellers including romance novels and stand-alone thrillers.

This book is very poorly paced. Great chunks of action happen with shorthand writing and then Patterson spends nearly an hour of the 7 1/2 hour book describing two of the characters' first sexual experiences. The Lake House skips over scenes and parts of the story moves in fits and starts. For example, the children all "run" away to live in the woods and eat grubs just to get away from regular human society.

The Lake House is a 2003 novel by James Patterson, a sequel to When the Wind Blows. The Lake House tells the story of six extraordinary children, endowed with the power to fly after genetic engineering merged their DNA with that of birds, and who have to fight for their lives against scientists who want to kill them, thinking that they are monsters of despair. With them comes the help of Dr. Frannie O'Neil and suspended FBI agent Thomas "Kit" Brennan.

James Brendan Patterson is an American author and philanthropist. He has said that money was not plentiful when growing up, but greater poverty came from the emotional detachment of his father. After he retired from advertising in 1996, he devoted his time to writing. In The Lake House, the sibling children are in the midst of a court battle that has turned into a media circus. The man and woman who have championed the children's rescue from "the School" where they were imprisoned are petitioning the family court for guardianship.

Showing 1-2 of 2 results. All that the children want is to return to the one place they have ever felt truly protected: the waterfront cabin known as the Lake House.

In THE LAKE HOUSE, Frannie O'Neill's life turned upside down when she and FBI maverick Kit Brennan rescued . Love James Patterson when he writes solo! this was the first book i ever read of James Patterson. since then I was hooked! Witch & Wizard by James Patterson.

In THE LAKE HOUSE, Frannie O'Neill's life turned upside down when she and FBI maverick Kit Brennan rescued six incredible children from the school that created them. What an exciting concept to have your characters going through. So cool to take this and spin it teenage novel. My son personally has loved the angle Experiment. I love James Patterson Books BEST BOOK-one of his BEST!!!!

First off, I love to read James Patterson. That being said, this book was disappointing. After reading several reviews, pro and con, I decided I had to read it and decide for myself. It just didn't "sound" like James Patterson. I only gave it 3 stars because I love some of the characters in his other books. Someone mentioned all the exclamation points - yup, there are a lot of them. Someone else mentioned choppy sentences, yup, lots of them, too. You have to assume a lot when you read this book - like how did the bad guys keep finding them? You have to assume that maybe the cars were lo-jacked or maybe Frannie and gang were constantly followed. And bird-kids having sex? I'm not even going to go there except to say it was mentioned a couple times that the kids were older in "bird years". I kinda figured Max was going to wind up pregnant, but she laid eggs? Okay. And I have to admit, Frannie did kind of seem like a twit. The title didn't make sense either since they didn't even wind up at the Lake House until the very end . Not at all what I expected of a James Patterson novel. I almost had to force myself to finish it. I'm not sorry I read it because it did satisfy my curiosity. But, I think I'll stick to Alex Cross, Michael Bennett and Detectives Jordan and McDonald.

This is the first James Patterson book I've read. I liked it. I didn't know when I started it that it was the second book in the series (of 2) but it didn't matter except I probably will never read the first book now. I thought the book had a good pace. It kept my interest. I gave it 3 stars because it was a very light read, meaning the plot could have been more involved/detailed in certain areas.
I absolutely plan to read Patterson again.
Funky
With every flash of danger and each soaring flight of victory, I was flying with these great kids. Intelligence and childish wonder made this story so wondrous to read and participate in. I flew.

I ended up with "When the wind blows" for 59 cents at some kind of a sale in a warehouse my ma took me to. I'm not too big into sci-fi, but the title intrigued me... I couldn't stop reading it. Patterson is a phenomenal writer. I didn't think twice before buying this book, and I wasn't disappointed. It was part of the original story. There's nothing boring about it whatsoever. WHat people were expecting reading it, I don't know. I have no regrets!

Great follow on to As The Wind Blows. Young adult reading. He did another series of books using the Maximum Ride name and character, but the new series of Maximum Ride books is really geared to a younger audience and bears just a little resemblance to the previous books.
FLIDER
I read this book years ago in paper back but re-read it recently on Kindle.

Kindle version review: This is clearly an older book when you read it on Kindle - it doesn't have the navigation of the more recent books, books that were actually published with Kindle in mind. There is no table of contents. The typesetting is fine, the pagination is fine, it's just the navigation that presents problems.

Story review: I really like James Patterson. Even his mediocre stuff is still fun to read. This story definitely falls into that category, especially if you are reading it and When the Wind Blows in a fairly close span. That said, keeping in mind that this was written years (even decades?) later the repetitive nature of the stories is understandable. This story has some of its own fun parts (the robots, the clones) that are different from the fun parts of When The Wind Blows. I personally can forgive the author for wanting to revisit the bird kids. And there aren't a lot of situations in which they can be inserted. So the mimicry of the original story is partly due to audience demand to hear from them again, and they are still fun, after all, to paraphrase, who of us has never dreamt of flying?

So overall, it's a decent read. If you've read when the wind blows recently you may wish to wait some time before reading this, but otherwise it is totally worthwhile.
misery
Every thing "Patterson" writes is fast pasted and "The Lake House" is no exception. The second book in a two part series will have you "Flying" right along with the KIDS! Max, Frannie, Kit and all the other Kids are so very real!
The two books got me ready to now read the "Maximum Ride" series which I just ordered the first 4 books from Amazon.
I enjoyed these books so much that I have not done anything in 2 days but read right through Books 1 and 2! Love the suspense action, the thrill, and love! Lord I loved these 2 books!
