Bantam Books by Kay Hooper. But a funny thing happened while I was writing those books. Although I enjoyed all the characters, one in particular was, quite literally, difficult to keep offstage when he wasn't supposed to be active in the story. My cat burglar Quinn practically walked off the pages, and even at the time my agent told me that one day I'd have to do more with him. One day came.

Bantam Books by Kay Hooper. Praise for Kay Hooper’s Novels. Which brings me to the second reason I wanted to include this note in the Thief books: Once a Thief and Always a Thief are not the books you remember if you read the original versions. They’ve been, in a sense, reimagined. I haven’t just added a few thousand words here and there-I have restructured the stories in several ways.
He never parked near the museum when he was being Quinn, he explained to her, so as to avoid having his car noticed. That was why you had to carry me all the way last night, she observed. That was why you had to carry me all the way last night, she observed as one of the reasons. Morgan didn't probe, and she tried to keep their conversation casual. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she had been slowly assembling the bits and pieces of information she had gathered over the last weeks.

I suppose it also helps that Kay Hooper's an author I like, and truth, I find a lot of her earlier work more enjoyable than some of the boring drivel she's been putting out lately. Don't get me wrong: I'm still holding out hope that the Bishop/SCU series will find its former glory.
The priceless, rarely displayed Bannister collection is about to be exhibited-and the show’s director, Morgan West, can’t ignore her growing uneasiness. She’s certain she hasn’t seen the last of the infamous cat burglar Quinn. But she never expected him to turn up at her apartment one dark night in desperate need of her help-help she can’t refuse. The mysterious master thief is playing a dangerous game, and it’s a game that just might get him killed

Always a Thief - Kay Hooper. I'm not sure when I got this book, but I nearly put it down shortly after I started reading it. Kay Hooper is on my C list, I think-if I'm remembering correctly how I've arranged my lists. Anyway, I generally enjoy her books, but not enough to actively look for them. Unfortunately, it's a sequel. Thief Quinn shows up, shot, on museum director Morgan West's doorstep. They'd obviously met before, and had a connection, but something-Quinn being a thief, perhaps?-kept them apart.
