Having covered the New England Patriots since 1979, he is uniquely qualified to tell the story of the franchise. But those who were around to witness them can still relay the stories in vivid detail. That is where Jim Donaldson comes in. Andre Tippett.

Having covered the New England Patriots since 1979, he is uniquely qualified to tell the story of the franchise. When I gave my Pro Football Hall of Fame speech in August 2008, I made a point to speak about my high school motto, Truth, Honor, and Light. Frank Verducci, my coach at Barringer High School in Newark, New Jersey, used this motto as a tool to teach his players the proper mind-set for the game of football. In Truth, we were taught to recognize our strengths as well as our weaknesses and to admit our mistakes.

Well the book is about the Pats as a whole" I hear you say. Well, Brady is in the friggin title, it should talk a little bit about the man. And how he divorced his 8 month pregnant wife to marry a super model. This book is an episodic romp through the 50 years of Patriot history. Like most sports-related books, I did not find it to be great writing, but Jim Donaldson imbues the reader with the desire to go back and watch some old footage, to recall the greats of the past, as well as the familiar highs and lows (thankfully, mostly highs) of the past decade.

There are so many "The Best Stories Ever Told" books about the New England Patriots and other NFL teams that it all starts to get jumbled together and it becomes difficult to distinguish between them, but this book stands out. While there is nothing really new in this volume, it is well. While there is nothing really new in this volume, it is well written, well organized and has a bit more than similar recent books on the New England Patriots. There are many good, short, player profiles of prominent Patriots players throughout the team's history and of course good stories on the biggest games, including all the Super Bowls.

He then told his wife (tumour: false alarm), he’d be moving to a motel next to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Fields racetrack, convinced there was something special about racing and I wanted to get to the heart of the matter. According to The New York Times: "one of the most passionately anti-sports books ever written by a superstar athlete. Back in the book, two stories are told: how a black US high-school football prospect (crack addict mother, dad killed in prison) changes after adoption by a rich white family, and how the game itself has changed with respect to the blind side, a quirk of player growth and tactics.

This book has a great deal of history on the early Pats and virtualy no info on the Bellichick / Brady Relationship. The tittle is extreamly missleading.
BOND
This book is a hap-hazard effort by an "author" that did more cutting and pasting than thoughtful or original writing. The title is intentionally misleading and is very slight in worthwhile or interesting quotes from any Patriot post 1995.

The book is a poorly done copy of "The Blue Print" and has no reason to exist beyond the obvious money grab by J. Donaldson. This book was already written with a more appropriate title and a better flow.

There are so many "The Best Stories Ever Told" books about the New England Patriots and other NFL teams it all starts to get jumbled together and there is very little to distinguish between them.

While there is nothing really new in this volume, it is well written and organized and has a bit more than similar books on the New England Patriots of the new century.

There are a lot good, short player profiles of the prominent Patriots' players throughout its history and of course good stories on the biggest games, including all the Super Bowl's.

The chapter on the 1985 Patriots discussing the relationship between Steve Grogan and Tony Eason is a very good synopsis and a reminder that Eason was a pretty good quarterback.

Chapters 9-11 talk about the reemergence of the Patriots as a competitive to eventually championship team starting with Bill Parcels becoming the head coach to Bill Belichick, to Tom Brady, to new owner Robert Kraft. These are also nicely done.

A good bonus feature is an audio CD that has interviews with Steve Grogan, Jon Morris, and Larry Eisenhauer that I really enjoyed.

Overall, if you want to get a "greatest stories" book and want to relieve the good times and the bad, this book is one of the better ones.

Sent this book with other Patriot's items to my brother in R.I. for Christmas this year. As a Pat's fan for years - and one of the many PAT's fan that tail gates in zero degree weather - my brother was excited to get this book. He can't wait to finish the book! If your a Patriot's fan - you need to have this book. It highlights the respect all the players have for Tom Brady and coach Belichick! It highlights what a TEAM can achieve! Go PAT's!

I read this book and enjoyed it very much, it goes back to the early Patriots and brings you to today's team. A must read for all Patriots fans.

I was very excited when my wife gave me this book but once I started reading it, I was disappointed in the quality of the book. It is poorly written and edited. The author repeats himself frequently. It seems more a collection of essays rather than an entire, thought-out presentation. If you're a huge Patriot's fan you'll still probably enjoy it, but it's not all it could have been.

As a fan living in Pittsburgh, it's difficult to find literature on the Patriots. This book did a great job of incorporating major players, games, and issues of the franchise. I found this book to be fast-paced and able to keep my attention. Great book!
