This volume deals with the regularity theory for elliptic systems. Mariano Giaquinta is an Italian mathematician mainly known for his contributions to the fields of calculus of variations, regularity theory of partial differential equation.

This volume deals with the regularity theory for elliptic systems. He is currently professor of mathematics at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa and he is the director of De Giorgi center at Pisa. Luca Martinazzi is professor of mathematics at the University of Basel, Switzerland.

These lectures are an introduction to the regularity theory of minimizers of variational integrals, in the calculus of variations and of solutions of nonlinear elliptic systems. Topics covered include the Hilbert-space approach to boundary value problems and energy estimates. Stores ▾. Mariano Giaquinta (born Caltagirone, 1947), is an Italian mathematician mainly known for his contributions to the fields of calculus of variations and regularity theory of partial differential equation. He is currently professor of Mathematics at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa and he is the director of De Giorgi center at Pisa. Giaquinta is well known for his basic work in elliptic regularity theory, and especially in the setting of vectorial variational problems

Mariano Giaquinta, Luca Martinazzi. This volume deals with the regularity theory for elliptic systems. We may find the origin of such a theory in two of the problems posed by David Hilbert in his celebrated lecture delivered during the International.
