On the practical level, both chemistry and industry changed greatly between about 1750 and 1950, which led to different types of interactions.

But Hoffmann is also a philosopher of science who has made significant contributions to our conceptual, historical, and normative understanding of chemistry. This book collects many of Hoffmann's philosophical essays, which represent a significant and unique understanding of chemistry and its broader context. On the practical level, both chemistry and industry changed greatly between about 1750 and 1950, which led to different types of interactions. over the course of time.

Organized under the general headings of Chemical Reasoning and Explanation, Writing and Communicating, Art and Science, Education, and Ethics, these stimulating essays provide invaluable insight into the teaching and practice of science.

Extraordinarily well written. Interesting to readers from either the science or the philosophy side of the issues. Should be of special interest to people who teach, as it gives some excellent evidence for why and how the arts & sciences have always gone together in the formation of knowledge and understanding.
