If you're going on a hike or camping trip this summer- bring this book with you and you'll see the wild around you in a whole new way! I bought this book for a college biology class, but have used it far more for hiking and camping around Oregon and Washington. The book reads like a friendly conversation with a fun uncle who spends all his time in the woods and wilds. It's like having your own David Attenborough along. The beautiful color photos are a plus, too!

A good scientific guide. I'd have appreciated more photos as I am an artist, but I think it serves quite well for its intended use.

section on plants was very good, lots of items covered and well described. photos could have been larger. section on animals did not measure up. was not a complete listing of animala and photo were very poor.

This book does not cover Eastern Washington, which is what I needed. The book itself seemed fine, though I only gave it a cursory glance. It's probably great if you're only interested in flora/fauna west of the Cascades.

I was looking for a small book, more for the general traveller. I did use it to make some notes to take on the trip. This book would be best for someone who lives in the Northwest US. Book was used but was in very good shape.
