Among the most influential books in the field of behavioral ecology, An Introduction to Behavioural Ecology certainly stands out to the extent that it has been called ‘a classic textbook. Trends in Ecology & Evolution, 2012). The long-awaited update to a classic in this field is now here, presenting new directions in thinking and addressing burning questions. It helps to have background knowledge of evolution, specifically sexual selection. I used this in one of my grad/undergrad mixed classes (400/500 level).

The book is essential reading for students of behavioral ecology, animal behavior and evolutionary biology. As mentioned in the title, the book is an intersting introduction to beavioural Ecology of animals and human himself as a typical animal. For those who are interested in Evolution, Ecology, Zoology, Philosophy and Sociology, this can be a very good one to read.

Behavioral ecology - is the study of the ecological and evolutionary basis for animal behavior, and the roles of behavior in enabling an animal to adapt to its environment (both intrinsic and extrinsic). Organizational ecology - (also organizational demography and the population ecology of organizations) is a theoretical and empirical approach in the social sciences that is especially used in organizational studies.

Introduction to Behavioural Ecology. Krebs JR. és Davies NB. 2001 Behavioural Ecology: An Evolutionary Approach.

This book is about the survival value of behaviour. It describes how ecological selection pressures associated with acquiring resources and reproducing, influence behaviour. The book uses up-to-date examples to show precise hypotheses may be formulated and tested experimentally. Theoretical ideas and empirical results are closely integrated throughout and in this new edition, the material which was covered in one chapter has been divided into three parts to clarify and simplify the presentation. Another new feature of the second edition is the inclusion, at the end of each chapter, of a number of topics for discussion. The book is suitable for second and third year undergraduate courses in animal behaviour or behavioural ecology.

Had to buy this textbook for a class in Entomology - Honestly was one of the more interesting books in my college career. The chapters are not the shortest, but the way the information is conveyed makes it a quick read. I got through my class readings in no time (something that can't be said for other classes/textbooks). Another cool thing about this text is that it's pretty small. It easily fits in a backpack, bookbag, or large purse. It's not heavy either. I ended up taking it with me and reading it on the bus a lot.
The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that I feel like it leaves a lot of extra information out. Since it's such a small book, the information has to be condensed into the bare minimum. It's a good introduction, but if you're looking to add to your knowledge you may want to browse around a little more.
This text is definitely geared towards biologists, so if you aren't too familiar with the terms in evolution and ecology you may find it extremely dull. If you're buying this book just for kicks, I would suggest buying an older version. I can't imagine that the information inside would change too much between editions, and you'll still be getting the essentials.

This was a required book for my pre-qual exams for ecology and evolutionary biology. This was the behavioral ecology portion. I found this a very easy read with excellent, succinct examples (probably the most important part). I used this book as a self study rather than taking a course with lectures but I am sure this book would go along well with any major lecturing classes.

Great pictures, easy to understand figures, great examples, one of the best textbooks I've read.

I didn't have a choice what book to purchase as this is a required text for a class, but it is a good book. It has great examples and details, and offers additional reading suggestions at the end of each chapter. It is actually a textbook that enhances learning/understanding instead of another textbook that confuses students and sits unread on a bookshelf.

The book itself I have not looked at much but I received it on time and in great condition. Looking forward to using it soon.

A well balanced, unique mix of ethology and sociobiology, with strong emphasis on the biologic and evolutionary sides of behaviour. It is concise but is easy reading. A must have, for those seriously interested in the field.

Essential of behavioral college students! The Brazilian Portuguese version has some problems with translation but nothing that prejudices the reading of this book. If you read Portuguese and English, choose the English one!
very good
