I read it cover to cover. The veil was lifted from my eyes. Now, all is clear. I have a better understanding of why the "un-informed" are easily convinced into believing the nonsensical stuff of mythology, astrology and magic. It is truly amazing we have been able to learn what little we know about nature, life and the universe - even though it has taken 4,000 years.

An interesting, accessible introduction to astronomy. Not just facts, but also some insight into the personalities that have shaped the science. The authors weave a good story and slip the facts in painlessly. If only textbooks were this interesting!

This tome is filled to the brim with interesting stuff about the history of astronomy, and jam-packed with full-color photos. This is the only textbook I have ever kept for leisure reading. The page-spanning photos make it a great product, especially at such a low price.
