Biting is an issue that is more than skin-deep. It can affect any toddler in any setting and can have developmental, emotional, or environmental causes. An "unfortunately not unexpected" occurrence among toddlers, biting is more than a physical act. It is a serious, complicated issue that brings frustration to the biter, bitee, parents, and child care providers.

This was great during a very difficult biting stage with my toddler. I read it and then shared it with his daycare teacher. It's definitely written for a school/daycare setting, but the tips are helpful to parents too. Anything is worth a shot when you have a toddler who is biting! If nothing else, it's a reminder that it's common and this stage will end.

I'm having a problem with my daughter biting me and occasionally kids at school. This was the only book I could find that specifically addressed biting. I found it super easy to read and full of helpful tips. I really liked how it breaks down the various reasons kids bite. My only issue with the book is the tips on how to deal with biting don't exactly match the reasons they list earlier that kids bite.

We have an 18 month old biter in daycare and this book is great at telling you what NOT to do, but it does not offer practical solutions to stop biting. I would not waste the money on this book.

I bought this book b/c my daughter is on a 30 day probation from daycare due to biting. While this is geared towards daycare centers, I thought I'd read it first since they keep asking me what to do. She only bites at daycare so I'm going to now give this to my director to read.

This book is so amazing on covering all of the reasons a child could bite, how to handle the actual bite for both the biter and bitee, how to make the environment better for the biter to decrease the urge to bite and how to handle parents. I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone working with toddlers in a daycare setting. It talks in great detail about how the size of the classroom (kids and dimentions) and things available in the room for sensory play, teething, etc.

Parents if you kid is biting at daycare, buy this book, read it and then pass it on to your center. You'll be glad you did!

I love how it recommends not having a policy that removes the child from daycare for biting b/c at this age they do not understand that they are doing something wrong and it's more up to the center to figure out how to help the child adjust.

I'm an infant toddler teacher, and this past year, found myself in the midst of my first biting outbreak. I had no idea what to tell parents and no idea how to stop it. I knew in my gut what was WRONG, but that's no help for what's right.

I read this book in one sitting. And afterwards I was able to have an honest discussion with all my parents and start (trying) to implement some changes. It gave me a better way to talk about it, explain how and why it happens - I love the phrase "unfortunately not unexpected" - and gave everyone involved some peace of mind, that things where going in the right direction.

I've kept referring to it as I have new kids and new situations arise and haven't had any problems since. This book is now my bible when it comes to biting.

This book was instrumental in helping us manage our toddler's biting problem. We learned that his daycare was using ineffective strategies to try and solve the problem. For example, the book describes that timeouts are typically not effective for toddlers.

Our solution was to switch to a new daycare whose philosophies meshed with those described in this book. The daycare believed that the biting was purely the problem of the daycare to manage, there wasn't anything wrong with the toddler or the parents, and the toddler would grow out of it. Since our child started at the new daycare, his biting has dropped to almost nothing.

I must have read thirty different web sites before I read this book, and this book had more information than any of them. If you are having problems with a biting toddler, I recommend this book.

The book is easy to read and gives lots of examples. In spite of the title, this is NOT a dry, humorless "policy and procedure" manual.

This book is a new look on toddler biting issues. We feel like we have tried everything and were surprised to find that many of the things we've tried were addressed in the book. Lots of new ideas to try.
This is an amazing book! I feel like every child care center, teacher, parent and child will benefit from this book!
