Julia Cameron had already written the classic The Artists Way which was a best selling phenomenon. I remember in my early 20s that was my go to book to get my brain creatively moving. But, this book was catered more toward the writer specifically. The Right to Write encourages writers in much the same way that the Cameron’s previous work The Artist’s Way encourages artists in general. The main focus of The Right to Write is to heal writers who are broken, initiate writers who are afraid, and entice writers who are standing at river’s edge, wanting to put a toe in. This book is less a how to book than a why book.

Anyone jumping into the writing life for the first time and those already living it will discover the art of writing is never the same after reading The Right to Write. Format Paperback 236 pages.

I’m so ready to commit myself to writing at least three pages of whatever comes to my mind on a daily basis.

Wow is this great! It's a tiny book you could tuck in your pocket and read for inspiration as needed. Very inspirational. Here is an example, "What if there were no such thing as a writer? What if everyone simply wrote? What if there were no "being a real writer" to aspire to? What if writing were simply about the act of writing?"

I loved this book. I can't speak highly enough about it. Whether you are a seasoned writer or a newbie, this book will not only inspire you, it will leave you eager and excited to GET WRITING! "Why should we write?" Julia asks in the first pages of the book, "We should write because it is human nature to write. Writing claims our world. It makes it directly and specifically our own." This is exactly what Cameron teaches the reader throughout this gem of a writing book. She teaches us to claim our world, our life, with our words and our heart. Read this book even if you have no desire to be a published writer but just enjoy the act of writing. It will inspire, entertain and energize you and your writing.
