Sir Roger Mark Jowell, CBE (26 March 1942 – 25 December 2011) was a British social statistician and academic. He played a leading role in the establishment of several of the UK's leading social surveys, most famously the British Social Attitudes and the British Election Study.

The living plant biomass of above- and belowground vascular plants is shown for some tundra sites as well as the living biomass of bryophytes and lichens when measured. The ratio of aboveground: belowground parts is calculated.

Sir Roger Mark Jowell CBE is a British social statistician and academic. He was born in South Africa, and was active there in left wing politics. Jowell is now a professor at City University, London. Previously married to social worker and fellow Camden councillor, Tessa Jowell, who went on to become a minister in Tony Blair's cabinet, he was divorced from her in the 1970's.
