Brian McFarlane is one of the most prolific and knowledgeable hockey writers around, and he did hockey fans everywhere a favor when he published his Original Six series: one book each about the Boston Bruins, Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, and Toronto Maple Leafs. His book "The Habs," which chronicles the history of the Montreal Canadiens ("les habitants"), is full of highlights - no surprise, since the Canadiens are the most successful team in NHL history.
