Joan Salvato Wulff, also known as the "First Lady of Fly Fishing", is widely regarded as the architect of modern-day fly-casting mechanics and is revered within the sport for her pioneering and many accomplishments. Since learning to cast as a schoolgirl in 1937, she has left a legacy for new generations of fly anglers and taught countless people the art of fly-casting through the school she founded and books she has written.

JOAN SALVATO WULFF needs no introduction, but I can’t resist pointing out that in 1960 she cast 161 feet with a fly outfit. My guess is that Wulff could cast 80 feet in her sleep and not even remember it in the morning. That’s a whole standard trout line, plus a 9-foot leader, plus like 20 yards-yards-of running line. And she did it with bamboo. Most good anglers with modern equipment would be pretty pleased to cast half that distance. Which is to say that you’re in good hands here. It has to be said at the outset that it’s not easy to learn to cast from a book

Joan Wulff's Fly Casting Techniques. It' was a wonderful, wonderful world. I like very much Mrs. Joan Wulff. She was a master of fly casting and has been deepened by meet Lee Wulf.

Joan Wulff's Fly Casting Techniques. Francis W. Davis, Joan Wulff. Jack Samson, Joan Wulff. In this book, she is talking about everything of fly casting, so easily for novice with perfect theories. I specially impressed at section for handicapped person. I have never seen like that in any casting books. It was little short, but enough to make her thoughtfull person

A richly illustrated guide that offers precise terms for every part of the cast, with sections on line speed, improving accuracy and distance, loop control, and much more.

Reading this book will help anyone learn how to cast a fly rod from the master teacher. Joan Wulff has won so many fly casting titles beating everyone including the men. One of my fly fishing buddies took fly casting lessons from Joann Wulff; and his casting loops are now so very tight and accurate. I was impressed. My buddy lives in Martha's Vineyard which is nearer to her school than where I live here in Kenai, Alaska. He comes up to the Kenai Peninsula in the summer to fly fish for wild, native Rainbow Trout, Steelhead Rainbow Trout and the five species of salmon that swim up the Kenai River to spawn. I live too far from the school; and so I did the next best thing and bought this book and also her video on Amazon.com at very good prices. And serendipitously the used copy of Joan Wulff's book that I received is a first edition autographed copy. How about that !

Mrs. Wulff's book is a wonderful book and has many, many illustrations to go with the wonderful text. I would recommend it to all new and old fly fisherman without exception.

Joan's book is a must for any fly fishing person who wants to continually improve their skills casting a fly rod.
All skill levels will benefit from this classic.
As always, you must be willing to do the exercises she describes.
If you do so your time on the water will be even more enjoyable.

Another book by Joan - The Queen, The Empress, nay I would venture to say the Godess of Fly Casting.

No other fly casting book that I know of has so much detailed information about the techniques of fly casting. The book also contains a wealth of insight into how we can diagnose our casting defects. This book, however, might not be for everyone. Some of Joan's techniques are intially hard to understand and must be reread again and again. But I believe there is no substitute for studying this book. No wonder Joan was such a great casting champion.

It is small disappointment that there are few real photos, but so many illustrations cover it. I think, it would be better to buy a Joan's casting video tape with this book.
