As the frazzled son and caregiver of a mother who passed away after 16 terrible years fighting an ever deepening dementia, I read Louise Morse's book, "Dementia: Frank and Linda's story" with sympathy and admiration. I have been there and done that. Louise Morse is author of several books about dementia. She is a journalist with a diploma in international marketing, and a postgraduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is also currently Media and Communications Manager for Program Homes, a Christian residential/nursing care facility in England. The book is filled with helpful tips and advice that will ease the burden for readers struggling with the challenges of dementia. Written from a Christian perspective, it is an uplifting tale with a road map to hope for all afflicted with this terrible disease and for their loved ones. I recommend it highly.

I am a community nurse case manager who picked up this book out of motivation to help my clients. I was also motivated to buy the book due to a new possible dementia diagnosis of one of my family members for whom I will be doing some "long-distance caregiving." Although this book is written from a Christian perspective, I have not hesitated to recommend it to my colleagues who are not Christians. It is both spiritually and emotionally inspirational, and also filled with practical advice laid out in a format that is easy to follow. I have highlighted my copy and will selfishly keep it for myself because I've gone back to it several times. The publisher won't mind that I'll just have to buy extra copies :) to share with my family members, friends who are caregivers, and colleagues. The book is written in a read-able manner which invokes interest and hope in the reader. I was initially intending to simply sit down and read a book to "get information" about managing dementia. I was surprised that it ended up being a book I didn't want to put down. I don't think that a better book on dementia has ever been written. We will be serving ourselves well in the US when we more readily adopt many of the suggestions (based on the SPECAL approach in the UK.) highlighted in this book. Thank you, Louise Morse, for writing this book. I have already ordered more copies of it along with some of your earlier books.
