Dynamic Macroeconomics : Instability, Fluctuations, and Growth in Monetary Economies. An attempt to revitalize the traditions of nonmarket clearing approaches to macroeconomics. Introduction Carl Chiarella, Peter Flaschel, Reiner Franke and Willi .

Introduction Carl Chiarella, Peter Flaschel, Reiner Franke and Willi Semmler. Part IV studies monetary policy in closed and open economies within the developed framework. In the final chapter the inflationary process is also studied in a two-country setup where the question can be posed – and is investigated theoretically and numerically–as to whether the international transmission of inflation leads to phase synchronization or not and, should the latter result be obtained, what the reasons are.

Dynamic Macroeconomics is an attempt to revitalize the traditions of nonmarket clearing approaches to macroeconomics. Using sophisticated tools from dynamic analysis, the authors introduce a consistent, integrated framework for disequilibrium macroeconomic dynamics and explore its relationship to the competing―and currently dominant―equilibrium dynamics. The book is organized into five parts. Part I covers background models of market-clearing and nonmarket-clearing approaches. Part II introduces short-run monetary models of macroeconomic fluctuations that build on the dynamic interaction of product, labor, and financial markets. Part III explores monetary instability in variants with capital accumulation and growth. Part IV explores supply and demand side Keynesian business cycles and monetary-type growth models. Part V considers the role of the financial sector as a source of instability and fluctuations.

The models developed in this book lend themselves to
implementation in "system dynamics" software such as
"Vensim". I have plans to do this in the future.

I am a student with a very strong Knowledge of Economics and I have read Romer's Advanced Macroeconomics (which is a solid text and doesn't stray away from reality) and countless other books and academic journals. I have to say that I have never seen an Economics text that is so out of touch with reality and I am not surprised it is being swallowed up by modern Macroeconomic approaches.
It seems as if the authors suffer from "physics envy" as they treat Economics as if they are trying to explain Aerodynamic concepts and topics of that nature. Economics is a social science that is rooted in a behavioural paradigm. The authors should focus more on explaining real life dynamic changes in Economic systems and if that is not good enough they can always take a Ph.D in Mathematics or Physics.
