William K. Esler (Author), Mary K. Esler (Author). My book got here in good condition. I've already read some out of it and it sounds like a good book to have for both the class I'm in and for when I actually do start teaching.

If I relied on this book to get me excited about teaching science, I would be waiting a long time. This text may have been required by the course I took, but it is a low quality test written in the obscure, academic way that gives textbooks bad name. It takes an interesting subject and makes it boring. 2 people found this helpful.

This lift-the-flap book isn’t specifically about animals, but Spot has a lot of animal friends you can talk about while looking for Spot. Excellent for teaching the rhythm of English. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Another great one from Eric Carle (with Bill Martin), this book teaches colors while introducing a variety of animals.

Esler, William . Children are naturally curious about their environment. Young children observe and openly seek to understand what they see. Many teachers find that science is the near perfect vehicle to help children develop their thinking skills. The purpose of this book is to help preservice and inservice elementary school teachers acquire the skill, knowledge and attitudes that will enable them to teach science well in their classrooms. This book consists of two parts which are organized sequentially; how to teach and what to teach. Each chapter contains objectives, exercises, and self-checks of the learning.
