Seven Sermons to the Dead (Latin: Septem Sermones ad Mortuos) is a collection of seven mystical or "Gnostic" texts written and privately published by C. Jung in 1916, under the title Seven Sermons to the Dead, written by Basilides of Al. In this volume Robert Segal, an authority on theories of myth and Gnosticism, has searched the Jungian corpus for Jung's main discussions of this ancient form of spirituality. This has all the mysteries of gnosticism in one book. yeah its pretty amazing.
jung goes on a rampage of details connecting different aspects of gnosticism and its history form the apocrypha of john to in depth comparison of egyptian osiris rituals and the nassesne rituals . it reads fast
although i thought it weird it shares the same name of another book on the same subject by a different author both of which i read . this book is nothing like the other although just as good .
jung goes from zohar to Egyptian magic to Thomas to alchemy to mister ekhart . i mean its a tour de force . its like man and his symbols but about gnosis so if you like man and his symbols you will like this

I PERFERED STEPHEN HOLER ON JUNG's seven sermons of the dead. HOWEVER I COULD CHANGE MY MIND. I need to read this more to have a final assessment.

CG Jung would have liked this balanced treatment of Gnosticism and his approach to it. It helps explain Jung's non-gnostic gnosticism--his expansion of ego consciousness to embrace his own paranormal experiences.

For anyone wanting to know Carl Jung's views on Gnosticism, this is the definitive work. Segal does an excellent job of describing Carl Jung's view of Gnosticism and the contrast with Jung's psychology. The explanation is very detailed, yet very clear and easy to understand.
