A 5 star rating because as a story it is hularious, it was truthful, it was "love" in all forms, it was, saddly realistic and truly an act of contrition. A good read!

This has always been one of my favorite books since I first read it in the 80s. The utter charm, innocence and change as you grow up is fully explored. Peggy, Sean & Con are so well written, that it feels as though you may know them.

Read it years ago, loved and laughed and cried. Reading it again brought it all back again. Went to a Catholic high school (co-ed), but as a non-Catholic, even raged on the school paper and nearly got expelled senior year for arguing freedom of speech. Have lived and loved so much of this book. So good!

I first read this book when I was 13, picking it up from the paperback shelves and laughing at the title, but deciding it was worth a shot. Best choice I ever made. It ended up really resonating with me, and I read it over and over again, for ten years picking it up from the library whenever I wanted to read it, until the library finally retired their copy and I knew I had to buy it. If you love coming of age stories that are funny and totally true, you will love this book.

Read this book as a teenager and loved it. I was so glad when I saw it was an ebook and I enjoyed it just as much this time around....Laugh out loud funny. Hope they get the sequel on ebooks soon.

I read this book when I was a teenager and when I came across it on Amazon I knew I had to buy it.
When I read it again I remembered all the reasons I loved it. I am very picky about the books I like so for me to write a review like this means a lot!!

Although it is about high school kids in the 50's, it could be any generation. It is so touching and funny and the characters are likable and easy to identify with. This is a must read for women of any age. Thank you Caryl Rivers!
