Children's literature or juvenile literature includes stories, books, magazines, and poems that are made for children. Modern children's literature is classified in two different ways: genre or the intended age of the reader. The development of early children's literature, before printing was invented, is difficult to trace.

MIRACLES: Poems by Children of the English-Speaking World, collected by Richard Lewis. During the early 1960's, Richard Lewis, a New York elementary school teacher, traveled around the globe gathering 3,000 poems written by children aged 4 to 13. This selection of 200 of them deals with topics as universal as war, winter, cats, spiders, night and death. In Sylvia Ashton-Warner's view, it all adds up to ''a miracle'' that will fascinate both adults and young people. THE TWYBORN AFFAIR, by Patrick White.
