Dara Wier was born in Louisiana on December 30, 1949. She received her MFA in 1974 from Bowling Green State University. She is on the permanent faculty, MFA Program for Poets & Writer University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she works with James Tate and Peter Gizzi.
