Updated: Apr 5, 2017. The best-selling novelists of our time seem not to understand this; but over the past century or so, the form's masters have put this opportunity to especially good use.

But why was he feeling lost and getting drunk every night? She was a poor German-Catholic farm girl from Idaho, just kicked out of convent for reading Bertrand Russell and Jean-Paul Sartre. She arrived in town on a freight train with her ideals of peace and love, her Thomas Aquinas, her tawny port wine, and her trombone. It didn't take long for him to fall in love, but then again it doesn't take any man long to fall in love. But that's another story. She's a German-Catholic farm girl from Idaho. Not exactly the most successful girl around. She thinks she has everything figured out, that is, until she meets Danny.
Gerald Rosen tells an American Pop Culture story with enough humor to keep you laughing from cover to cover, not to mention going out and having the notion to write a great review!
I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who owns a cadillac......and anyone who has a sense of humor.
