I was disappointed in this book. I was expecting a Red Dress Ink book a little different from the other ones I had read.

I was disappointed in this book. This book jumps all over the place without being interesting in any one area. I think this novel wasn't really about anything in particular. I got quite annoyed with the character at times. It was pretty obvious that she had misjudged the character she was in love with and it was just a matter of getting to the end of the book to finally see them get together.

What can I say? I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Gehrman has created a wealth of interesting characters in an off-beat and quirky book. Like the free spirited setting of Santa Cruz, so is our main character, Claudia Bloom.

The Goldfinch is a novel by the American author Donna Tartt. It won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, among other honors. Published in 2013, it was Tartt's first novel since The Little Friend in 2002. The novel is a coming-of-age tale told in the first person. The protagonist, 13-year-old Theodore Decker, survives a terrorist bombing at an art museum where his mother dies. While staggering through the debris, he takes with him a small Dutch Golden Age painting called The Goldfinch.

Tart is my favourite word. I love what it stirs in the mind–the synesthesia of flavour mixing with colours: reds, oranges and apple greens, gleaming with cheap temptation. Tart is my favourite word. It's been a goal of my twenties to live a tart life; I want everything I do to have that sharpness, that edge of almost too–out–there to be tasty, but not quite.

just the right amount of funny and heartwarming with real life situations. You won't want to stop reading it. Funny and breezy novel. Published by Thriftbooks

This was written by a local community college professor who I had the honor of taking a class from while there. I bought this book years ago, fell in love with the humor in it, and loaned it to practically all my friends. One in particular has borrowed it more than once so I decided this past Christmas it was time to buy her her own copy. She was so excited, especially when she saw I had gotten her another one of Jody's books as well!!

Tart is very well written and a page turner. The main character is very entertaining and interesting and I didn't want the story to end. I read the whole thing in less than 2 days, couldn't put it down.

I was glad to be done with this book and move on to another one. I think the first 5 pages are intriguing and from then on it goes downhill. I doubt I would recommend this book to anyone.

When her lover Jonathan decides he would rather have a younger model, actress Claudia Bloom packs her bags, jumps into his dilapidated VW bus and head to UC Santa Cruz where she will teach drama. Of course the VW dies on the way, and she is rescued by sexy Clay Parker. After a one night stand that leads to several more nights she is embarrassed when Clay's not-quite-ex-wife Monica walks in on them. Even more mortifying is she's a fellow faculty member. While Monica is giving her the evil eye, her students wonder if she's qualified, and the dean thinks she's flaky, Claudia figures she won't be getting tenure. But you can't keep a good tart down. When Clay's divorce becomes final, he's ready to start seeing her again, and then she discovers he has yet another tie to her job...

Gehrman is a funny and talented writer. While the book is not exactly literature, it is very entertaining, and she brings humanity to her characters that will resonate with readers. Her writing is crisp and her dialogue is spot on. Claudia is a flawed and real character. I just hate when authors resort to lack of communication and assumptions to move a story along. But overall, I really enjoyed the story and it helped me endure a long flight.

In Austin, Texas, Claudia Brown enjoyed the sex with her boyfriend Jonathan, but is not ready for anything permanent. She decides to discard domestic tranquility especially since Jonathan has already found a younger female and return to amazon tart status. She steals Jonathan's SUV and drives west only to have his bus ignite on fire; an oil change would have helped before the engine went up in flames, but it is too late now . Biker Clay Parker takes Claudia and her cat Medea to Santa Cruz where she will teach theatre at the University of California at Santa Cruz.

Claudia and Clay hit it off until she learns he is married to a department peer and to make matters worse, his mother heads the department. Her class thinks she is a flake as her acting technique seems way out and some say so. However, her biggest issue is that she is falling in love with Clay and he seems so in love with Selena.

TART is an engaging west coast chick lit tale starring a nice woman determined to return to her "roots" although Claudia cannot fully hide the real woman. Sub-genre readers will enjoy Claudia's up and down (figuratively but somewhat literally) relationship with "bad" boy biker Clay, who is a kind caring person. Fans will agree with his assessment that communication between them such as her asking him about his feelings would have solved many of their problems, but the fun is that she did not so the audience obtains an interesting dysfunctional relationship drama.

What can I say? I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Gehrman has created a wealth of interesting characters in an off-beat and quirky book. Like the free spirited setting of Santa Cruz, so is our main character, Claudia Bloom. The inner workings of Claudia's past, present, and future all come together beautifully, but not without the requisite twists and turns, including a tumultuous childhood, unstable family members, and the love of her life- who just happens to be married.

This is a great read and another unique addition to the RDI series.

Claudia Bloom is a vibrant, imperfect, funny, and unpredictable woman who lands in a strange world and tries desperately to fit in, all while coping with turning 30, and what that means when you call yourself a Tart. I cheered and cried and could not put it down. Don't let the fact it is published by a romance imprint dissuade you from buying this book. Jody Gehrman is an excellent writer with a knack for bringing the details of a moment into cinematic clarity. Her characters are strong and memorable. Highly recommended.
I loved this book! It's not too often that you find a someone who can write really well, and also be truly funny. I loved the characters, especially their flaws, and I just didn't want it to end. I hope Jody Gehrman is writing more novels!
