Two simple, matching 14-karat gold bands. It was really exciting, not just because it’s the first big wedding task we’ve done together, but because these rings symbolize the depth of our commitment. We’ll be wearing these rings until the day we die. I could tell Stephen was nervous. He isn’t accustomed to wearing jewelry. Not a class ring, and sometimes not even a watch. Although some married men choose not to wear wedding bands, Stephen feels pretty strongly about i. oreLess Show More Show Less.

This was a hard read through Kindle. The author used footnotes, but they only appeared at the end of every chapter, so I either had to scroll back and forth, or try to remember at the end what the footnotes referred to. Beyond that, the main character who starts the book by dissing her friend for being a bridezilla, of course becomes one when her boyfriend proposes. She never seems nice or lovable at any time. I don’t think there was enough time to learn to like anyone in this book. Every character seemed sarcastic, or mean or put upon.

A predictable, not worth the time, read.

This book was absolutely hilarious!! I picked it up seeking a funny, light, enjoyable read after some of the heavier themed books I've finished, and I sure found it!

This book zips right along, formatted as diary entries of Amy Thomas, whose friends it seems are all getting married, and going crazy. Amy vows never to become a crazy, delusional bride-to-be. But when Stephen her boyfriend proposes to her, things quickly start spinning out of control. Before she knows what's happening, she's second guessing her antique engagement ring, the way Stephen proposed, her wedding dress, and fighting in public about her bridal flowers!

As soon I finished this book I IMMEDIATELY picked up the next one, Diary of a Mad Mother-To-Be, and am half-way through already. I highly recommend this book, it's fast-paced and VERY funny! A great book for future brides, married women, or anyone even remotely interested in weddings!

Since I have been a bride once and since I enjoyed her second book, Diary of a Mad Mom-to-Be, I read this one as well. It's not as funny as her pregnancy book is ~~ but it's very humorous and cute. How well have I forgotten the nerve-wracking moments of trying to have the perfect wedding and within a budget! And Amy Thomas brings all those memories back with a hoot and a hollar!
Amy Thomas, a successful magazine editor, gets engaged to Stephen, a guy she's been dating for 11 months, in the line to a movie, no less. And with her best friend's encouragement, she buys this book on how to have the perfect wedding and that is when things started to snowball into mass hysterics.
It's cute and funny ~~ and a great read while soaking in a bath full of bubbles. It brought back lots of memories of my wedding and it was just a fun read!

Anyone who had recently gotten married or is planning on getting married soon should read this book for a good laugh. The events chronicled by Sarah in this book ring so true to life. For those who have gotten married, you'll get a good laugh out of how some of these same things happened to you. And for those who are planning the big day, it's nice to know that you're not alone and you will be able to relate to the main character. This book puts a funny spin on real life wedding planning events. I highly recommend this book to all women who are married or hope to be married someday...and ESPECIALLY to bridesmaids-to-be who haven't been married yet - so that way you can get a glimpse of what the bride-to-be is going through so you can be more understanding and help her keep it together until the wedding day.

This book is fantastic! I am not a bride-to-be and have never even been close to being one, but this book was probably one of the funniest, most down-to-earth books I've ever read. I read this during my last semester of law school and then passed it on to all of my other stressed out law school friends. It proved to be great relief for our stress. One great thing about this book is the use of footnotes. They are hysterical! If you like it, definitely check out the new one "Diary of a Mad Mom to Be" because it's just as funny--even if you're not pregnant and don't have kids!!!

Funny book that really tells what a wedding is like sometimes

I am not a Bride, a bridesmaid, and I am not engaged, so maybe I could not enjoy this book properly. I didn't think this book was very realistic and I was dissapointed with some of the events that unfolded. I mean who gives their son $5000 to plan a wedding then a list of 200 guests they expect to be invited? Cough up some more dough or tear up the list!! And, I hated Amy's wedding. I wanted to cry for her. I hated her dress, I hated her reception, her buffet..and most of all her parents. I would have eloped. To be fair, I should read this again when I am engaged and I might change my mind. For now I give it a 2.
GREAT book- especially if you are newly engaged or about to be married. A peek into the chaotic strings of planning a wedding.

I loved reading this book as it made me aware of what was coming in the months to come with wedding planning. I enjoyed the humor in it and felt much better about my own nerves and being overwhelmed as this book tries to point out the moods, the chaos is all part of planning a wedding. I felt much better about my crazy episodes after reading this.
