Endless Lies" is based on events that occurred in Lindsey's small town of Cedartown while he was growing up. The main character, Derek Lancy, came back home to open a small private investigation service in the town he grew up in. What he didn't know was that his new job would change. What he didn't know was that his new job would change his life. He was thrust into a race to find answers to "endless lies.

David Lindsey has a very good reputation, as far as I'm concerned, as a mystery writer. There he is approached by two sisters in a roundabout way. The younger of the two, hauntingly beautiful but deformed by a hunchback, wants him to make a nude sculpture of her. His books are moody, slowly paced, wonderfully written, and very quirky and atmospheric. When he started he concentrated on a detective in Houston (I think) named Stuart Haydon, but recently many of his books have been about other characters, and some (notably Mercy) have been true masterpieces of the mystery genre, and very good as literate novels, to boot. Which brings us to the present book, Animosity.

David Lindsay (3 March 1876 – 16 July 1945) was a British author best remembered for the philosophical science fiction novel A Voyage to Arcturus (1920). Lindsay was born into a middle-class Scottish Calvinist family in London, and was brought up partly in Jedburgh, where he had family background. He was educated at Colfe's School, Lewisham, and won a scholarship to university, but for financial reasons went into business, becoming an insurance clerk at Lloyd's of London
