Melinda lives with her sister, Aunt,and Uncle. Melinda goes out west for her sister's wedding. But what they don't know that a big surprise is waiting for them there. Melinda is very funny. Beatty did a good job of making it feel as if you were there. It was very hard to stop reading the book. I found myself laughing and crying with Melinda.
John and Patricia Beatty were married American writers, an academic historian and a children's librarian. They wrote several books together until John Beatty's death in 1975, after which Patricia Beatty continued to write until her death in 1991. John Louis Beatty was born on January 24, 1922 in Portland, Oregon and later became a history professor.
