I am such a fan of Cairo Jim and his band of brave and adventurous and resourceful friends. How can a story featuring a archeologist poet, a talking bird who can read hieroglyphics and a telepathic wonder camel, (who sometimes poses as a donkey) not be a hit. The Cairo Jim series is simply wonderful and "In Search of Martenarten" does not disappoint. Whether you are 8 or 80 you will love this story. Bravo! So happy this classic series is now available on Kindle, can't wait for the next edition to be released!

I am 7 years old. I have listened to Cairo Jim and Doris In Search of Martenarten. In this story, Cairo Jim, Doris the Mackaw and Brenda the Wonder Camel were sent by the Old Relics Society to look for the tomb of Martenarten, in the Valley of the Kings. Their enemy, Neptune Bone and his raven, Desdemona, are trying to stop them because Bone wants Cairo Jim kicked out of the Old Relics Society. He also wants to keep all the treasure in the tomb.

Of course, Cairo Jim and his friends (Doris and Brenda), manage to find the tomb and, with the help of their good friend Jocelyn Osgoode (who is a real person, not a Mackaw nor a camel) stop Bone from getting away with the treasure and from making them look silly.

This story is exciting and sometimes it is funny. Geoffrey Mcskimming is good at writing adventure stories. He writes things that make me feel a little bit scared for Cairo Jim because I think he is going to get hurt, but Doris and Brenda often save him and I feel happy and not scared any more.

Geoffrey Mcskimming reads the story very well, and the way he reads it helps me to imagine what it looks like.

I think lots of other kids would enjoy this story, too. When I am a bit older I will be able to read the books for myself.

I am completely in love with the archaeological action series written by Geoffrey McSkimming that is Cairo Jim. They are bright, funny and full of personality that remind you how strange and funny people can be.

In this adventure the protagonist, the poet-archaeologist Cairo Jim, is excavating a site in Turkey with his sidekicks, Doris the macaw (who is Shakespeare's biggest fan) and Brenda the Wonder camel, who is very intelligent, though unable to speak. Together they discover and uncover mysteries of the archaelogical world with the reader pulled aliong enthrallingly. All the characters are cute, charming and unique, even the bad guys who are mean but never sinister.

You finish the book with a warm feeling in your heart and a greater appreciation of archaeology. By the way, this review is aimed mainly at readers from a different country to me (Australia). I can see that there are only two newly-added Cairo Jim books on sale here at Amazon, and as yet I am the sole person to review them. I want to let all international readers know that here in Australia, where the Cairo Jim series has been going for nearly two decades, at the rate of one book per year. Here, Geoffrey McSkimming is a GOD! He really deserves to receive international attention.
