by Matt and Dave ; illustrated by Nigel Baines. Go and annoy Polly, Yuck says. Fortunately, the worm speaks English, so Yuck can play a whole series of tricks. Well, actually, it’s the same trick over and over: The worm disguises himself as a hair ribbon. The worm disguises himself as a drinking straw. The second story in the book is just as repetitive. Matt and Dave both worked in children’s publishing before turning to fulltime writing. I love the YUCK book series for so many reasons. First let me preface that my son HATES reading and wants nothing to do with books. I tried finding books that appeal to his love of sports, but to no avail, he refused to read them. I knew that he loved anything gross. I across one of Matt and Dave's books in the library and brought it home. He couldn't get enough. He refused to go to sleep that night until he finished the book.
