This is a 48-page biography of Amelia Earhart for young children. It is said to be for grades 4 and up, but I think many children below fourth grade can handle it. I would not call it a picture book, but it includes 27 pen-and-ink drawings, which young readers will enjoy

This is a 48-page biography of Amelia Earhart for young children. I would not call it a picture book, but it includes 27 pen-and-ink drawings, which young readers will enjoy. Most of the story centers on Amelia's youth as an adventurous and fun-loving child who engaged in sports and other activities that were not considered proper for little girls of that era. She had the full support of both her father and her mother, who said, "Too many people spend their days worrying about what they.

When I was young we had a membership with Troll for a short period of time. Their biographical books are excellent for young readers. I distinctly remember using them for reports in middle school and getting all A's. A great read for anyone wanting all the important info but not necessarily every thought or feeling the person had. Struggling through a full-length bio, looking for information that's interesting and important, might turn a young reader off to historical figures. Troll does a great job of telling the story in a way that so affected me as a young girl that now, over 20 years later, I'm on Amazon searching for those same books for my child.

Ordered this book for my young boys (3, 5, & 7) to study someone from the state of Kansas. Interesting life story. For anyone purchasing this book, there are not many pictures and it was simple for my 7 year old to read.

She had the full support of both her father and her mother, who said, "Too many people spend their days worrying about what they can't do and about what others shouldn't do. That's a dreadful waste of time. You girls do what you feel is right, and your father and I will back you all the way." Amelia enjoyed sledding, fishing, playing baseball, and building a makeshift roller coaster, and she also was a good student. On her ninth birthday she was thrilled to see her first airplane, and when she was twenty-two, she started learning to fly. Her career as a pilot and her mysterious disappearance are covered quite briefly with the significant facts but few details. Amelia is presented primarily as a heroic young girl who lived life in her own way, regardless of the conventions of the time, but was always considerate of others and diligent in her schoolwork. She serves as a fine role model even before she learned to fly, and her story is an inspiring one for young readers.
