The texts for the most part read the same. The typeface has been changed from sans serif to serif. In Max's Ride, the concept words are now designed to reflect their meaning. So "down" now moves down the page and "under" dips under the line of text.

Rosemary Wells has created her best-loved characters in the popular bunny siblings, Max and Ruby, who are featured in more than forty books and star in their own television show on Nick Jr. She is also the author of many other books for young readers, ranging from board books to young adult novels. Ms. Wells travels widely as a well-known advocate for literacy and for pre-school education.

Rosemary Wells (born January 29, 1943) is an American writer and illustrator of children's books. She is well known for the Max & Ruby series, which follows the everyday adventures of sibling bunnies, curious three-year-old Max and bossy seven-year-old Ruby. Wells has also written Noisy Nora (1973), Yoko (1998), the Voyage to the Bunny Planet series, a Christmas book called Morris's Disappearing Bag (1975) and a collected book of illustrations of Rodgers and Hammerstein songs.

Max's Ride and Max's Toys first appeared in 1979, while Max's Bath and . The books are a bit larger and the color palette a tad lighter. Still, more Max is better than less and Wells's special brand of deadpan humor is always welcome.

The texts for the most part read the same. Some of the facial expressions seem to give a different emotional emphasis.

Rosemary Wells is an epic writer in the world of children's literature. What I love about her is that the books are easy enough for children to understand, including the humor, and at the same time, are complex enough that adults get a laugh out of them and remember their childhoods. their fights with their brothers or sisters, or just a smile at the thought of Max flying through the air (which would never happen, right???) This particular book was one of the first books I purchased for my first child when he was only months old. We read and re-read this and many others. Wells was a favorite author. He is now nearly 34 and since my copies are ragged and chewed up from too many teething toddlers, I purchased this newer printing for a sister of his who had her first baby. I was not disappointed! Max is still hilarious, Ruby is still bossy, Rosemary Wells can still tell a humorous tale in just a few words, and little babies start to learn cause and effect, beginning, middle and end, syntax and humor in a few short words and pictures! Hurrah Ms. Wells!

The story is just not as interesting as many of the others in the series. Fortunately, my daughter's only just turned two so she still enjoys the book.
Such a cute book packaging was great the book was exactly as advertised great quality for a used book
The original editions of the Max series were absolutely wonderful. The later editions have changed and they are not as whimsical and "perfect" in that Max so well represents the young toddler. Please bring back the illustrations of the first editions!!
Great Thanks.
Join Max and Ruby on a ride through UP, DOWN, and in BETWEEN. Max, the playful little bunny and his big sister Ruby are at it again in this charming little board book titled "MAX's Ride." Older sister Ruby stands on top of a hill holding the handle of a baby carriage (or shall I say "bunny" carriage) while little brother Max is seated inside primed for the ride of his life. "GO! said Max. DOWN went Max. STOP said Ruby." Max flies OVER a bump, OUT of the carriage, and UP into the air. Ruby runs UNDER a clothesline in an attempt to catch him. Max sails BETWEEN two trees, slides back INTO the carriage, and crashes into a pile of newly fallen leaves, "STOP said Max." This is a delightful little tale about two mischievous bunnies, that teaches verbs and prepositions.
The text is very short, it is only ten pages long, and Ruby's expression when she prepares to let go of the carriage is priceless. "MAX's Ride," is a board book that measures 7" x 7" x ¼". The illustrations are bright, colorful and expressive, however, the wording is a little awkward to read aloud, but not as difficult as some of the author's other books. Birth and up.
Rosemary Wells' "Max" books are wonderful and we especially love them for our first grandson, born February 16, 2000 because his name is MAX! Our Max's mom has four of the Max series and we have just ordered four more. The board books are easy for a young baby to see and for the mother to handle while also handling the baby! The colors are bright and Max is an endearing character. Great books to start a baby on the road to reading!
I love this book. My five-month-old daughter seems to love it too, and wants me to read it to her over and over. Maybe it's because I get such enjoyment out of it and it's contagious. The final spread, with Max's dopey, happy expression is gorgeous, and I can imagine him saying STOP with a satisfied, exhilirated sigh.
