Thought the book covered most of the questions presented on the actual exam. You can pass the exam by reading this book alone with some additional hands-on practice with NT Server.

I studied TCP/IP for NT 4.0 for two weeks using this book and the Transcender test. I scored 640 (need 570 to pass on the new adaptive test). I used Gary Govanus' other exam notes book for NT Workstation and aced that test too (882/1000)! He is a totally awesome author and this series blows away Exam Cram any day!
When I walked in the testing center and sat down, I had no clue Microsoft changed TCP/IP to adaptive (only 25-35 questions depending how many you get wrong). But this book combined with Transcender is still on the right track because after my 25th question my test ended, which means I answered enough correctly that it didn't need to continue (adaptive tests are totally different than what MS was using before). Being that Microsoft has made Network Essentials adaptive, and plans to make all the NT core exams adaptive in the next couple weeks, this book is still right one target!
Only one error in this book, and that's on subnetting. Most books slughter their subnetting sections, but not this one. The best explanation on subnetting I could find (that I actually learned from) was the 40 page booklet that comes witht the Transcender test (which still rocks for the adaptive test!).
Overall, Gary's book is awesome. At my college, we're using the New Riders TCP/IP which sucks so bad it's criminal! Most books out there have too much info....this one is nicely layed out in 300 pages and each chapter covers Microsoft's "Exam Objective". Thanks Gary! You rock dude!

I just passed the 70-067 exam today with a score of 872. Here is how I did it. First, I bought this book. NT Server covers alot of material and you will need something that gets right down to the heart of the material, not a bunch of fluffy crap. I spent 3 days reading this book and hi-lited along the way too. Once I finished, I used the Transcender test for 70-067 and scored only in the 700s, so I printed out the completed tests and looked up the wrong answers in this book. My second round (2 days after) I scored 986, 891, and 891. The real test only requires a passing score of 764. WOW! I've used this series of books for NT Workstation, IIS4, and TCP/IP 4 and passed the tests the first try each time. That's how I know this series is for real...

I had finished reading the Sybex TCP/IP Study Guide by Lammle, Lammle, and Chellis, and things still just weren't clicking for me. Since the Study Guide was a rather painful read, I decided to check out Gary Govanus's TCP/IP Exam Notes. What a great book! It is very well written, it's in layman's terms, it's concise, it's entertaining (without being lame or rambling), and IT WORKS!
I passed the new TCP/IP adaptive test with a 771 (570 required). The questions in Govanus's Exam Notes aren't hardcore, so buy the Sybex Study Guide for that. However, Govanus does a killer job of nailing down the most important concepts, and you MUST understand the concepts to pass this exam.
Thanks, Sybex; and keep rocking, Gary G.! Whoo-AHH!

The authors have a sense of humor and the chapters are short, well organized and are based on the Microsoft exam. objectives. It help to keep you focused on studying what is important and necessary. The chapter on RAS is excellent - it explain the concepts well, showing their relationships and implementation. I have passed the 3 MCSE core exam. (NT Server, Enterprise and Workstation 4) by studying this "MSCE Exam Notes:" series together with Alan Carter "Windows NT 4.0 Study Guide" (from IDG). Many thanks to Robert, Gary and Alan for helping us to pass the NT core exam!

I used this book + Transcender and scored 872/1000 on my first try. I studied for 6 days only! Forget spending thousands on MS classes and hundreds on sutdy guides.
I feel like the authors just sucked all the good stuff from the 700+ pages of fluff that the other publishers are printing and stuck in 300 pages of useful material... The best $$$ you'll spend! I've also used this same series for NT Workstation, TCP/IP, and IIS 4 and passed all of those my first time too. Now I'm studying for NT SITE and then Network Essentials and I'll have my MCSE!

Could not tell them apart, when I was reading them either. Therefore I will address all three here and maybe copy this into the others.
There is certainly no need to buy all three of these books. Just buy the book for SITE and you will get all the information that is in Server and Workstation and then a little. All they did was put a new cover on the books and add just a little material as the exams progressed from WS, to Server to SITE. This laziness in writing and inattention to the specifics of each exam is the main reason for my poor rating.
The WS book prepared me very well for the exam. The Server book made me drop my defenses and undestimate the exam. Luckily, I still passed and I was prepared for the SITE exam. The SITE book failed in the same way as the Server book. They simply repeated the roughly 350 pgs of the WS book and added very little. Neither, stressed those areas specific to their exams quite thoroughly enough. Also, some of the information was is incorrect on all three, for instance, the cumulative effect of permissions.
Still, I would recommend buying one, just no need to buy all three.
I managed to pass the 70-081 Exam 1st time after Using this book along with the Sybex Study Guide for Exchange Server(2nd Ed) 5.5 with only ten days worth of study. Its strongest point, as with all Exam Notes Books by Sybex, is it clearly lays out what areas of the exam Microsoft focus' on, allowing you to emphasise your study on those key points. It did, however miss one key point, which was a discussion on firewalls (covered in the study guide) otherwise it would of been 5 stars. My recommendation: This book, the study guide and a small practice network of 3 - 4 computers is all you need to pass the exam.
