I agree this is the manual that should have been packed with the ipod. Outstanding information, some details of tricks that can be done espically if you are using an Apple computer. Still for those Windows people it is very worth while especially if you are having issues trying to do some particular task.

What was a real surprise to me is there are several iPods that have different functionality, and those differences are seldom explained, this bood does a fair job on those. But I have discovered that the iPod I have is very unique, and will not support many of the newer features and accessories, even though it is less than 3 years old.

I will be watching for the next version of this book to see if there is more enlightment on the compatability issue.

It is here somewhere. I havent seen it lately. I have a kindle now and only play my Ipod when i'm doing the cooking or washing dishes. I have about 200 pieces of music on it. All classical of course. There is no other music than classical.
You see I was trained and brought up with classical music. I need to put more music on my ipod. This book gets you over all the humps and lets you enjoy it's abilities. I have had mine amost 5 years and its going strong today.

I got my fourth generation iPod used from someone who upgraded to a newer model -- thus I had no manual except what I could find online, which was insufficient. Basically, I started reading the Missing Manual from the beginning and went straight through! (If you have some idea what you are doing, you don't need to do that!) I keep it on my desk and refer to it fairly often. It has allowed me to do all sorts of really cool things with my iPod in addition to the usual things! I highly recommend this book.

The title for this is very accurate - the Missing Manual. If you are missing your iPod manual and for some reason unable to download a free one, then go ahead. This book is pretty much exactly the same, usually word for word, of the pdf file that I downloaded. It does not offer any other helpful tips, shortcuts, etc. other than what Apple already tells you about. It does not explain in any more detail. I was very disappointed.

PACKED with information. Sometimes a lot to sift through to find exactly what I need, but so far, everything I've really needed has been in this book. Rolling along in middle age, I find reading complicated or lengthy material difficult on-line--so this hard copy works really well for me.

I've even impressed my (young adult) children with things gleaned from this book--how sweet is that!

The book enabled me to `hit the ground running' with my new Ipod.
Without it, my sessions with it and Itunes would have been grim.

The book needs a discussion of the `exclamation point' character that can appear in Itunes' window when the Music library or a playlist is displayed. That exclamation point character is bad news and dealing with it is tedious.

The unhelpful except for sales Apple website, the high cost, the fragility and the lack of documentation have me wondering if the real evil isn't innocuous ol'Apple and maybe we all owe Microsoft a big apology. This manual has already answered one of my first problems with the ipod. Amazon is helping me with the other one i.e. a defective display - niiiiiice! I recommend this book.

Apple doesn't want to encourage sharing songs so your Ipod is assigned to one itunes account but you can do what you need to do by click and drag according to the instructions in this manual. If I hadn't found the solution, I would have returned the ipod.

Missing manual no longer missing.
