I was surprised to see so many basic, well-known & easily found water garden plants omitted in this book. Missing are standard water garden plants like frogbit, Vallisneria and Sagittaria, ALL Salvinia spp, ALL Myriophyllum spp (including parrotfeather), and java moss. Only 2 Nymphoides spp are included. I mention only those plants I know and grow myself in water gardens and many more may be omitted. A majority of the book covers waterlilies, lotus and marginal plants. The most incomplete sectons are those covering waterlily-like plants, floating water plants and the worst is the section covering submerged water plants. You are left to experiment, as I have, with common aquarium plants to discover which are actually hardy in your conditions. I was hoping for a useful and basically inclusive handbook. This is NOT that book.
