This book is filled with all kinds of interesting and factual information about the Borgia Family. The first half of the book is mostly about the Pope Alexander VI and the Borgia boys and men but it does explain a lot about Lucrezias' early life and background. The second half of the book is about Lucrezia and Ceasera The book has been throughly researched and is very impressive in its facts. That being said it's kind of a hard read, like a college book that would be useful if you were writing a paper on the Borgias. It was a little dry but I found that was so interesting that I wanted to keep reading. I did find that many times I wasn't sure who Ms. Bradford was talking about because there are so many important characters and she doesn't always make it clear who the actor is she's talking about. This isn't the easiest book to read but if you are interested in the Borgia family this is probably one of the most researched and factually accurate books you will find. It was a little slow going but very informative and interesting. I recommend it.

Poor, poor Lucerezia ! The world has been so unfair to you but as more of your life comes to light we have a better understanding of your Life, Love and Death in Renaissance Italy. When wealth and power were intoxicatingly flowing during the Renaissance the beautiful Lucrezia was in the thick of it and was woman of her times despite the manipulations of her overly adoring father the Pope, her Brother the general of the armies and her husband and toy boy whoe were either making her life hell or beautiful. This woman had it all and was both smart and sensitive to those around her who protected her and used her for poltical gains.

Purchased this for a friend a birthday gift. They enjoyed reading the bio's of the famous and infamous in Italian Renaissance history. She said that was wonderful read and a good although overly romantasied look at a dark period Italian history.

everything you need to know about Lucrezia. but there's a lot of "trees in the forest"

Nice bio about an influential woman of her time. Most recognize the name even if they don't know what she did. After reading this, I felt she was more of a pawn than an influence. Always interesting to read about the Borgia family and its power.

Excellent read! It underscores the long history of the Church in engaging in nefarious actives. From incest then to peodephelia now there are many things still hidden under the rug.
She does her best with little source material.
