Irreverent and gossipy, the books are packed with carnal tidbits and eye-opening revelations. The headlines of Royal infidelity and divorce that are the bread and butter of today's tabloid press. It covers a wide and sorted range of scandals from Henry VIII to present day (Book published in 1994-at the time Princess Di and Prince Charles were separated but not divorced. Of course the tragic death of Princess Di had not happened ye. It is probably a PG-13 book, not a Entertaining book.

Nigel Cawthorne has written quite an affectionate history of the Royal predelictions and desires. It is occassionally judgemental, but mostly it is Cawthorne enjoys the topic and his subjects. Of Edward VII and Daisy for instance, he writes not only of their affair but of the aftermath when, as good friends, they continued corresponding. You may not come away from this book with a greater understanding of history, but perhaps some salient lessons in human frailty and egoism. 2 people found this helpful.
