This can lead to a person feeling in the grip of his or her inferior function. The inferior may also manifest under stress, when resources of the dominant and auxiliary are exhausted. When the inferior function manifests in someone's life, that person may say, I don't know what got into me. It often feels like being out of control (outside the conscious ego). The inferior may manifest in negative, immature ways.

My current and past employers used MBTI for team development. I always enjoyed and got a lot our of understanding my team mates personality type. In the Grip was suggested because our firm is going through a major change. I was curious as to how type played into my ability to handle stress. This book was more than enlightening. It provided me the answers that I've struggled with the entire time I've been working with my current boss. As such, I executed my intent to exit earlier than planned. This is not a negative, it is positively charged!

A lot of great content, but overused technical terminology. Not formatted for Kindle in such a way that it is easy to find what you are looking for.

If you work with MBTI,this book is for you. It seems expensive but the information contained within the work is worth its weight in gold. It is good for personnel managers, community leaders, church leaders and anyone who is working to develop teams of all types. It allows individuals who have taken MBTI understand more aspects of their own personalities as well as assisting the leaders build more effective teams in any application. The content also opens the door for self understanding as to why we do what we do when we are upset. We can often get "in the grip" and become someone else that we we really don't like or appreciate. This book helps us find the pathway to our own personal re-integration. It is worth every penny.
An excellent book for applying the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) to real life!

This look at stress responses by the 16 various types was profound for my personal journey; it helped my wife and I identify our own stress reactions and to shift our issues from blaming our co-workers to owning our own difficulties.

I highly recommend this resource for anyone familiar with and using the MBTI for personal development and group dynamics: life coaches, team consultants, team leaders, mentors.
