This book was fairly well-written. It was written so that it is pretty easy for someone who is not a medical professional can understand. I was happy with the material included, but it did not include much on the type of arrhythmias where the heart skips a beat. It was very surprising to me that this was not included in the book. There was only a couple of very general references to this type of arrhythmia, which essentially was just saying this is one type of arrhythmia.

There are very few up-to-date books/guides for patients wanting to learn more about heart arrhythmias and Atrial Fibrillation, in particular. This book is a relatively current source on various heart arrhythmias. Gives a good overview of the heart and its functions. For A-Fib patients there are several good chapters on Atrial Flutter and Atrial Fibrillation. Also a very good chapter "Defensive Patienting". Good read for the non-medical reader just starting to learn about heart arrhythmias.

Not many books are available for the general population on this topic - heart rhythm abnormalities. Most popular heart health books deal with other forms of heart disease, with barely a mention of arrhythmias. For those with arrhythmias, and their family and friends, this book provides an overview of the various types of irregularities and possible causes, as well as common types of testing, medications, implantible devices, and procedures. A must-read for those who may need a pacemaker or ICD. Written in a comprehensive yet understandable manner - enough detail to be informative without overwhelming.
