The book has enough topic coverage without killing them with boredom. Each page is broken up into sections that introduce, reiterate, and review skill sets. I love that it covers things that are new and to be reviewed, so that each page isn't overwhelming. My daughter enjoys having little breaks from the advanced concepts between more advancement.

As a homeschooling mom, we've tried a variety of Math Workbooks trying to find one that works wonderfully for our family. Finally hit gold with the Horizons Math books! My 1st grader actually asks to do math now, she's finally grasping the basics and it's no longer a fight thanks to this book!

My favorite feature is that it's not just a one page and then done. There is repetition and bringing up old concepts to keep them fresh! This is an all around win for our Homeschool!

HORIZONS MATH HAS AN EXCELLENT TEACHER'S BOOK AND THE LESSONS ARE INTERACTIVE IN THAT THE TEACHER'S BK. GIVES DETAILS AS TO WHAT THINGS YOU NEED TO HAVE ON HAND (IE, RULER, FLASH CARDS, ETC.) AND/OR HOW TO MAKE SIMPLE THINGS TO MAKE IT FUN.

ENJOY!

PS. I HAVE THE 2ND AND 3RD GRADE CURRICULUM & I CONSIDER THEM TO BE A LITTLE ADVANCED, BUT THAT'S GOOD BECAUSE THERE'S NO NEED TO RUSH (2nd/3rd = THE 2nd GR. BOOK & 3rd/4th = THE 3rd GR. BOOK). JUST LOVE THE VERSATILITY...

My favorite math for homeschooling. My kids do well, with it, and it is thorough.

The teacher's guide is not always helpful, but I don't worry about that for 2nd grade. It's the older years that seem to make that more difficult.

You can usually find these cheaper elsewhere, but I needed it in a pinch and was glad to find it on Amazon with prime shipping.

Horizons math 1 can be accomadated for most any learners. It reviews over and over which is a great tool for struggling learners. For a faster pace child, it can get a little repeative, but that can easily be fixed by allowing the child to skip over some of the repeated problems and move through the book at a faster pace. The book is very colorful. For one of my kids that was a good thing bc he loves art and color. For another of my kids, the color was to much. He has ADHD and did better with another math curriculm that was only black and white.
I do like Horizons 1 bc it teaches basic math for a really good price. You will need manupulatives to use with it. Either purchases separately or made at home.
Def would recommend for basic early math!

Book 1 for grade 1. We bought to see if it would be a good fit and my 1st grader loves it. Just ordered book 2 for grade 1. Would recommend for younger children who grasp math concepts easily.

I have homeschooled for 10 years. I have 5 children. Horizon Math is my first choice for K to 4th grade. Very thorough, it covers everything you would find in traditional math books along with calendars, time and elementary geometry.
Great book only my child get “bored” having to do mostly reviews of previous things for each lesson
