While the tools offered in this book do not provide a “quick fix,” they foster critical thinking and sustained inquiry that leads to positive change for both teachers and students.

The book is an excellent reflective overview of the author's experiences with literacy coaching. I did not find it to be a useful research tool or resource for my graduate reading program.

The book contains several charts, tables, 2" margins, index, references, web resources, and 149 pages of information. In a normal book the information could be consolidated into approximately 50-70 pages.

I liked this book immediately because it's written in first person. It's very descriptive about what coaching looks like in practice, and the approach and techniques are well-grounded in the realities of classroom teaching. In my mind, sustaining purposeful change is the primary goal of coaching, and I appreciate that this book is unwavering in its focus.
