Thompson loves chilies and curries (Jump Up and Kiss Me is the name of her line of hot sauces and other food products), but "spicy" doesn't mean that all of her recipes are hot, just that they are thoughtfully seasoned. Among the recipes included here are Green Papaya Salad, Pasta Gratin with Mustard Greens, Spanish-Style Mushrooms in Green Sauce. But among them this one is the best. Lots of recipes that aren't too hard to make and don't require a boatload of exotic ingredients or a day of intensive labor to prepare.

I just orderes this book as I am primarily vegetarian (eat some fish) and it is easy to fall into a rather boring routine of a few favorites. The Basics section alone was worth the price of the book. It is usually the sauce or dressing that adds the flavor to vegetarian meals - the Chiptole Sauce is HEAVENLY, try the Papaya-Habanero Sauce - WOW. And the Curry butter, Chipotle Mayonaise, Hananero Honey....if you like spicy, or just that added pique, this is truly the book for you. You don't have to be a cook with lots of time - just use the Basics and add to your normal cooking. Or use the recipes like Autumn Black Bean Salsa to add to pasta,Green Papaya Salad (a personal favorite), Marinated Garbanzo Bean Salad, etc. Personally I don't make recipes which all for loads of preparation and I find this to be a wonderful book which will add great dimenson to your cooking with minor effort.

I almost didn't buy this book because I was buying several other books for vegetarians who like spicy foods. But among them this one is the best. Lots of recipes that aren't too hard to make and don't require a boatload of exotic ingredients or a day of intensive labor to prepare. I will be using this a lot.

I love spicey and I am vegetarian. This is such an awesome cookbook. If you are Vegan it is simple to fit to your diet. I have one and so far I gave gifted five? Try her hit sauces too, very nice flavor.

I have had this cookbook for many years and I made this purchase to give to someone who really liked one of the dishes I made especially for her. Now at Christmas she will have not just that reciepe, but all of them. The book came very quickly and was as if I had just gone to the store and bought it.

This is just as expected.
I am not a vegetarian, but I have no problem eating vegetarian. I also like somewhat spicy food. My dad gave me this as a gift.

This cookbook has a wide variety of delicious recipes. The jalepeno poppers are good, but probably my favorite (believe it or not) is the carrot cake. The author blends flavors well and so the recipes aren't just hot - they also taste fantastic.

My one complaint is that there are a lot of ingredients, some of which are hard to find. I don't mind a pepper here & a different pepper there, but my grocery stores have limited variety and I often substitute different peppers based on availability. Also, many of the recipes call for different bottled hot sauces. I don't like to buy something I may only use once or twice. So, for example, the carrot cake called for a passion fruit hot sauce, and I just used regular hot sauce. It still turned out well.

Overall, though, still great recipes!
