I enjoyed this installment of Jim Eckert's adventures, but it bogs down a bit in the details. More than once Gordon Dickson took three chapters to relate something that could have been tightened down into one. I grew impatient when the action came to a screeching halt so that we could listen to a lecture by Carolinus or we had to wade through every thought that passed through Jim's head when he pondered a problem.

I really like the way that Jim comes up with unexpected solutions to the problems presented to him--Dickson shows a lot of creativity in that area. Secoh, the mere dragon, brings some charm to the story, and when he's not lecturing, Carolinus adds magical spice to the action. Though it's not quite as much fun as The Dragon and the George, it's a pleasing sequel.

I read this seires several years ago when they were available at my local library. Enjoyed them enough to revisit them. Decent ensemble of characters, each with personal foibles. Fun read.

Humorous, exciting, and interesting stories. The audiobook makes my commute bearable and less to nothing road rage. I still see stupid drivers but I tend to ignore them since the story is funny and exciting.

We've loved this series ever since it first was published - yes, we still own the original 1976 paperback! Love James and his feisty Angie. If you haven't read this series, do yourself a favor and buy this. It's still one of the best dragon-as-hero stories ever!

I loved the book the first time I read it and I still do. I tried marking all the errors to report, but it's terrible. It makes me want to skip the other great Dragon books. Maybe I'll pull out my old paperbacks at the cost of ebook convenience

Good lighthearted puzzle fantasy.
I've read most of the series. The paper copies have been over the years. Good time for replacement.
