The volume hopes, writes moonwalker Buzz Aldrin in a foreword, to inspire the next generation of space travelers . If this book doesn't whet your appetite for space flight and exploration then I don't know of another book that will.

The volume hopes, writes moonwalker Buzz Aldrin in a foreword, to inspire the next generation of space travelers, and the design certainly arrests attention. I feel like I've just walked out of spaceflight seminar every time I put this book down. I got tired of taking it to my office and lugging it home so I just bought another copy to have at work too.

Spaceflight: The Complete Story From Sputnik to Shuttle - and Beyond. Giles Sparrow, Buzz Aldrin. Скачать (pdf, 15. 1 Mb).

Every space flight enthusiast should own this well written reference book. I think it is one of the best books in its field, both for the text and especially for its graphics. Not only is the epic story of space flight from the first soviet satellite to the launch of NASA's New Horizon probe captured in words, but it is also well supplemented with high quality photos and renderings by graphic artist. As I'm currently doing a project on the future of space exploration, the concluding segments on commercial space flight and a revival of moon exploration were most useful.

This is simply one of the best, most detailed, comprehensive surveys I've seen. Amazing
photos, drawings and descriptions. As a retired Gemini/Apollo technician, and collector of
space memorabilia and books, I found this book to be beautiful, highly readable, informative,
and a great reference for anyone wanting to learn about ALL aspects of American, as well
as, several other national space programs, their hardware and vehicles.

We have checked out nearly every book on space flight from the library. My child eats this type of information up. After trying this one through the library, we knew we wanted to buy it.

Some great information not found in as succinct and easily digestible form as in this book. It can't cover it all, but it feels complete for what it is.

My child really likes the full description of each propulsion system so that he can compare them and decide which would be best for which kinds of missions. Nice graphics and photos.

I loved this book. Learned a ton about the history of the space program. And the pictures are outstanding.

Gave as Xmas Present to Grandkids - they appeared to like it, the pictures are real good. As to the final result - will see after a liitle while. The purpose was to educate - to answer their questions and wondering, and to get them more involved in science-math-awareness. We'll see later on what happened.
Vijora
Well-illustrated with many photographs and drawings, useful text.
Vikus
An overview of human, animal, and unmanned spaceflights of the world.
Awesome photos and information.

At last, an illustration-rich, very well edited history of spaceflight. "Beautiful" because the pictures and computer-aided graphics are extensive, attractive, and many of the pictures are new to me. (And I have seen lots of spacecraft pictures.)

"Up to date?" It was written in 2007. That's a big deal for me, because the finest illustrated spaceflight guides that I own were all written back in the 1980's! This book contains just about everything from the German V2 of WWII to today's spacecraft, including the major vehicles and personalities from all the major Soviet and US programs, which of course culminate in today's International Space Station. (Which really does exist...you can see it with a telescope.) It briefly but nicely covers the European and Chinese efforts, and even has a page or two on the Indian space program. Finally, a pretty section on space probes, that includes (thank goodness) the Mars Exploration Rovers.

I had no idea this book existed before I saw it in the library today. I can say I own a decent collection of books on historical spaceflight. However, this book is so good, balancing detail with a high-level perspective, that I'm eager to get my own copy as soon as I can.
If this book doesn't whet your appetite for space flight and exploration then I don't know of another book that will. I feel like I've just walked out of spaceflight seminar every time I put this book down. I got tired of taking it to my office and lugging it home so I just bought another copy to have at work too. Would also make a great gift.
