satellite remote sensing began with the launching of Landsat-1 in July 1972 by the National. Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), United States. In situ hyperspectral reflectance data were studied at 50 wavebands (10 nm bandwidth) in the 400 to 900 nm spectral range to determine their potential for discriminating among 6 aquatic weed species: curly-leaf pondweed (Potamogeton cris-pus ., hydrilla (Hydrilla verticillata Royle), Eurasian watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum ., northern milfoil (Myriophyllum sibiricum Ko., hybrid milfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum Myriophyllum sibiricum), and parrotfeather (Myrio-phyllum aquaticum Vellozo).

To date, optical remote sensing has been explored for grassland mapping, but cloud cover limits the availability of timely data for the discrimination of improved, as opposed to native, grassland. In this study we investigated the utility of RADARSAT-2 polarimetric imagery to map native grassland, improved grassland, and agricultural crops. Fewer than 1% of grassland patches in the study area contained any habitat far enough away from edge that they would be predicted to support at least 75% of the relative abundance of pipits expected in the absence of edge effects.

Assessment of Land Use and Land Cover Change Using GIS and Remote Sensing Techniques: A Case Study of Makueni County, Kenya. Mercy C Cheruto1 , Matheaus K Kauti1, Patrick D Kisangau2 and Patrick Kariuki3. The main aim of this study was to gain a quantitative understanding of land use and land cover changes in Makueni County over the period 2000- 2016.

SUMMARY Reported cases of deforestation in the Aberdares have drawn substantial . Kenya and Nyambene Hills. Study Material and Data The satellite data used was Landsat TM images for two epochs (1987 and 2000).

SUMMARY Reported cases of deforestation in the Aberdares have drawn substantial concern due to the value of this forest resource. This river supply water to the 7 folk hydro-electric power stations and feed s Mwea, Bura and Tana Delta irrigation schemes. The images were obtained from Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD). Topographic maps covering the study area were also obtained from RCMRD. A personal computer with IDRISI 32 image processing software was used.

Landsat imagery not found in the USGS archive might have been collected by one of the USGS International Cooperator ground stations, each of which are the primary source of distributing data collected at their location.

Established in 1967, the Canada Centre for Inland Waters (CCIW) located in Burlington, Ontario, accommodates over 600 staff from Environment Canada (EC), the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, the Canadian Coast Guard, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Remote sensing techniques enable assessments of water clarity and the presence of algal blooms while microbial source tracking and genomic tools provide information on microbial water quality. A geomatics lab that specializes in the application of earth observation data combined with geospatial analysis to assess ecosystem services and wildlife habitat.

In recent years, satellite remote sensing techniques have been developed, with . Application of Landsat Data to the Study of Mangrove Ecologies Along the Coast of Ghana.

In recent years, satellite remote sensing techniques have been developed, with increasing availability of very high resolution satellite imagery, which have proved to be of immense importance for preparing accurate land use and land cover maps.

It was created in 1995 by amalgamating the now-defunct Departments of Energy, Mines and Resources and Forestry.
