I am a big fan of Ford wagons. My Dad owned two Country Squires that were very classy. While this book covers 1929 to 1950 very thoughly, it starts to skimp on information after that till it is nothing more then a few pictures and some quick notes about the models sold in a model year (from about 1975 -1991). While the models didn't change alot in those years, options/colors/interiors did. That type of information would be nice to have.

I mistakely thought this was going to be a 9in x 11in book but it is just a 5in x 7 in approimately. Considering it cost $22.00, I think this is way over priced for the contents. Also it would have been nice if a 2nd edition had been printed updating the information to 2001 or somewhere around there.

Overall, if you could get the book for around $10.00 it might be nice to have, but I won't pay anymore then that for it.

The book is an excellent history of the premiere producer of station wagons from the very first Depot Hack to the very last Country Squire. It contains great pictures and stats on engines, transmissions as well as running gear advancements for the years covered... My Granddad had a 1959 9passenger Country Sedan that when he brought it home and went to garage it 4 foot of car remained outside of the garage. I will always have found memories of trips to the river and Sunday afternoon drives around the county visiting the high spots... I sure wish we could have kept that car! No modern SUV can compare...

Very well researched and written; however, I really wish that the photo coverage was in color. One of the joys of looking at old cars is seeing the unique and interesting color schemes, and B&W photos just don't do the subject matter justice.

Good
I grew up in a household with Ford Wagons (notably a 69 and 74). I learned to drive on a 74 Country Squire that was more than once likened to the Starship Enterprise for it's sheer size. For that reason and the fact that I currently drive a 2000 Ford Focus Wagon I was extremely interested in this book. This is the first Iconographix book that I have purchased. I was little disappointed that there were no colour pictures. I also felt the years 1929 to 1936 were not covered well as far as pictures of stock Model A and 32 to 36 wagons. I was also surprised that a book published in 2003 would end it's history with the 91 models. From 1991 until now there has only been a handful of Escort and Taurus restyles as well as the new Focus wagons to cover. I wonder if this was a space issue?
On the upside I enjoyed the fact that the book covers some of the advertisements promoting Ford Wagons and shows some of the promotional models and model kits available through the years. It is neat to see some of the abandoned wagons and custom wagons that the author has found in his travels.
Overall I am quite happy to have this book on Ford Wagons. Where else are you going to find information on this topic? Besides my few little complaints it is quite a worthwhile book on the subject.
