I thought it was a great action/adventure book for the middle grade aged child. I was sad with the ending for the parents lacked growth. However, Timothy grew by leaps and bounds. Great read for adults as well.

In order to give others some type of knowledge about this book, the rating was just averaged. The only information available is from the Author's Note in the book, but it gives some idea as to the contents.

"WILD TIMOTHY IS a work of fiction and not meant to be a Wilderness Survival Manual. Timothy did some things right but, since he was working by trial and error, he also did a lot of things wrong. While all the wild foods mentioned are edible in one form or another, some require preparation to be on the safe side. Clams, for example, shouldn't be eaten raw, because they can contain parasites. Springs, even in relatively unpopulated areas, are seldom totally unpolluted. If you want to know more about wild foods and survival techniques, there are a number of good nonfiction books on the subject available through your library, bookstore, or county extension service."

Wild Timothy is a great book and I'll tell you why in the next two paragraphs. Timothy is thirteen year old boy who doesn't like to be out doors. He would rather read books than do anything out side. His Dad and brother are out doors men. They like to camp, fish, and do most things out doors. His dad makes Timothy go camping and fishing even though he doesn't want to.

One day while camping with his dad Timothy gets lost out in the woods at night. He has to survive with only an ax and a copy of "Lord of the Flies." He doesn't know anything about the wilderness, but he remembers from different books he has read, tips on how to survive in the wilderness. He finds that he can make it on his own in the wild and eventually finds his way home.

Wild Timothy is a pretty good book. Timothy Martin a 13 year old boy, who loves to read and is not the most active boy. His older brother and dad are big time outdoor's men and just love going camping. One day Timothy's dad and Timothy decide to go camping. So Timothy reads about the outdoors and learns a good amount of information. While they were out there Timothy wonders off and gets lost!!! With only his axe he has to live off the land and off what he knows. So he learns how boil water, make a fire, and even make a good shelter that he can live off of for a while. He even encounters a huge grizzly bear!!
