I am mainly writing this review to say I find no typos or mistakes with this kindle version by Hodder's childrens books. I know that there are some Enid Blyton books with kindle edition by amazon digital, those are the ones with the problems with typos etc. I know because I bought one of those first. so before buying please scroll down and see who the publisher is. Even Hodder has 2 editions available on kindle, 2010 and 2014, I am buying the 2010 because they are a little cheaper, and I find no typos, when they are of the same price I am buying the 2014 version.

I loved the Famous Five as a kid, adventurous and spunky as they were. The stories apparently are not too dated, since the six-year old for whom I got these audio books loves them, too. It's a British production so the accents may take some getting used to.

The Famous Five are back at it, this time taking on smugglers in an abandoned castle, while at the same time engaging in a bit of smuggling ... their dog. Classic Five stuff, as good as it was forty years ago when I first read these works from the author. The 9 year old boy I bought it very much enjoyed it, proving yet again that this is timeless writing.

Simple fellow

This is a great series and my children really enjoy the books. It makes for great family reading. The only slight disadvantage is that in places the translation to electronic has resulted in typographical errors that can be a little irritating. Because this disrupts the reading flow a little, I've given a 4 star rating rather than 5 star. The language is also a little dated because the book is quite old. Overall though, I found these issues to be relatively minor and the book was well worth the money. Good story, appropriate content for kids.

I love Enid Blyton and I consider all her works inspired. But this edition of her book is badly printed, and badly edited. It looks like somebody typed up a copy of her book in a hurry and then bound it for sale. It's full of grammatical and editorial errors.

Smuggler's top is a wonderful adventure for the famous five! My eight year old loved it and could not wait for the nightly reading before going to sleep. Most highly recommended for children and grown ups alike!!

This was truly intriguing - I was immersed in it from start to finish. Surprisingly adult considering the audience for which it was intended.

I watched the TV episode of this and it does not come close to what the book has to offer.

The plot and content have stood up to the test of time. Buy it. I enjoyed it.

Enid Blyton was a favorite writer of childrens stories in the 40's, 50's and 60's and they were broadcast by BBC radio in 'Childrens Hour'. They are a bit passe but I bought them for sentimental reasons. I expect many elderly ex-Brits would do the same. But,alas,I fear modern children will find them corny and not at all entertaining. A pity, but these stories couldn't compete with the blitzkrieg of today's childrens fare.
