Since then I’ve read books by Graham Nash and Neil Young as well. I think I now have a better since of where they came from, and what they went through. David’s latest book details his continued health problems, which other than his liver transplant were far more serious that publicly known.

Crosby has relapsed, cleaned up again, learned that he had two adult children that he never knew Since Then: How I Survived Everything and Lived To Tell About It by David Crosby and Carl Gottleib (Putnam 2006)(78. 2). David Crosby was a sweet-voiced member of the legendary rock group Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

David Crosby, the outspoken founding member of CSNY and The Byrds, turns his wry and unstinting eye to a fascinating, prickly subject: himself. Known to millions as the trickster poster boy for folkrock utopia and the inspiration for Dennis Hopper's wild-eyed antihero in the film Easy Rider, David Crosby is every bit the quintessential American icon of the counterculture today that he was in the sixties and seventies. Legendary, controversial, beloved

Crosby is also the author of three books including Stand and Be Counted: Making Music . Crosby’s two autobiographical volumes are Long Time Gone and Since Then: How I Survived Everything And Lived To Tell About It.

Crosby is also the author of three books including Stand and Be Counted: Making Music, Making History/The Dramatic Story of the Artists and Causes That Changed America, which underscores his commitment to social activism, and belief that artists and musicians are potent agents for change. The latter, per Entertainment Weekly, chronicles, A fascinating life worthy of a sequel.

An honest and revealing memoir from musician David Crosby, founding member of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills .

An honest and revealing memoir from musician David Crosby, founding member of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

How I Survived Everything and Lived to Tell About It. Reunited with his adult son while awaiting a liver transplant, becoming a famous sperm donor (to Melissa Etheridge and Julie Cypher), coming back from a crippling motorcycle accident, losing his house in an earthquake, and through it all making beautiful music, David Crosby once again reveals all with self-skewering humor and honesty-as only he can.

Since Then is both a self-skewering look at the twists and turns of an impossibly rich life, and Crosby's confident declaration that it's far too soon for him to don the robe and slippers of Generational Elder. As a two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he has an unparalleled legacy as a singer, songwriter, and musician - and few would object if he were to rest on his laurels

A true rock-and-roll survivor, David Crosby has not slowed down since his New York Times bestselling memoir .

A true rock-and-roll survivor, David Crosby has not slowed down since his New York Times bestselling memoir Long Time Gone. He was a cowriter of the screenplay for Jaws, wrote two bestselling books with iconic musician David Crosby, and wrote Which Way Is Up with Richard Pryor, which the New York Times described as one of the controversial comedians’ best screen work.

A two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame evaluates the contradictory aspects of his life, describing such topics as his familial relationships, life-threatening health issues, and ongoing appreciation for the opportunities that enabled his successful career. Reprint.

I’ve always liked CSNY. I like a lot of their music, and I’m a musician close to their age myself, but never knew too much about their back story until I read David’s first book. Which I enjoyed.
Since then I’ve read books by Graham Nash and Neil Young as well. I think I now have a better since of where they came from, and what they went through.
David’s latest book details his continued health problems, which other than his liver transplant were far more serious that publicly known. How he’s still alive is a miracle in itself, but he continues to write good music, to perform and devote his time, energy and money to things that really matter.

Having read both of David's autobiographies, I find he writes well and honest. He addresses his problems head on and has faced the tribulations and consequences of his actions. While I don't see eye to eye with C S N and Y's outspoken politics, I have learned to respect David's opinion on some issues. As a struggling musician for over 50 years myself, I feel a certain envy for David's lifestyle and am glad to see that he realizes and is thankful for all he has. He seems to be going stronger, playing more and still enjoying all the work. He is one of my musical heros and C S N without Niel is one of my favorites. Don't misunderstand the early Niel Young stuff is some of my all time favorite music as well. My band still plays "Cinnimon Girl" just about every night.
David's book has left room I hope for a third and final chapter after he retires from C S N. I hope he finishes his on going story.

BIG Crosby fan but, like the previous book, I didn't care for the style of writing.

Ever since I first saw CSN,&Y perform in the early '70's
I have been a big fan of this man and his fellow band
Mates. Reading about David Crosby gives great insight
to WHAT makes this man tick! This book was an easy read
and an honest read. Thank you Mr. Crosby for your candor.

When I read this book I hadn't a clue of what type of life David Crosby had. I was surprised. Its a good thing that he has changed his life other wise I don't think he would be around now to please all of us by his Awesome Music. If you're a fan of David Crosby this is must read if you haven't read it yet.

As with "Long Time Gone," I couldn't put this book down. After reading the first one just a couple of years ago, I remember feeling like I was left hanging because I knew so much had happened to him "since then." I was so hoping he and Carl Gottleib would do a sequel with the same substance, candor and wit. I'm happy to say, mission accomplished.

Since you can learn what topics are covered in the editorial review, I'll talk a little bit about how the book is put together. As with the first one, the text of the book toggles between David's commentary, input from Carl, and then also contributions from other people like Bonnie Raitt, Graham Nash, Grace Slick, Kirstie Alley, Robin Williams and Noah Wyle. If you're scratching your head about the last three, those are only a few of the surprise relationships.

The one thing that comes gushing out of this book is his love for family and country. He's hopelessly and helplessly in love with his wife and children, and this is a side of him we only started to see in his last book. His love for country is also intense, but as you can imagine, that relationship is a little turbulent at the moment. He lays it all out towards the end of the book and holds nothing back. If you share his sentiment, you'll find it exhilarating.

All in all, I highly recommend this book for all music fans. And, I absolutely hate to say it, but I sincerely hope this is his last autobiographical book and that the rest of his life is too blissfully boring to write about. How about a novel?
I really enjoyed it. Certainly one of my favorite rock bios and I've read many. For me it was one of those books that I looked forward to reading every day and when it ended I felt like a good friend had gone away. Hey, that rhymes! I'm gonna' include that line in a song that I'm writing. Anyway, I've been a fan of CSN&Y since high school (mid 70's), just not in that order, however. Mine would have been: YSN&C. In fact the only reason I bought this book was because of other reviews, as I had no particular fascination with Crosby. And while Neil Young is still my clear favorite-and I'm speaking purely in terms of my musical taste, I now have a much better appreciation for Crosby the man after reading this. He's always (in my opinion) had the best voice of the bunch, technically speaking. Personally I just happen to prefer interesting character to technical perfection typically. I found that Crosby and I have a lot of similarities, both physical and psychological and many that I wouldn't admit to anyone but him, but that made him easy for me to relate to. I actually met him once just briefly and thought he was a jerk for not signing something that I asked him very politely to, and when I think about it I guess I still feel that way although I suppose I need to respect the fact that he was on personal time and not performing or anything. I would have done it for him had the tables been turned though. Whatever, no big deal. I'm not the star-struck type whatsoever, and in fact I believe that I deserve more credit for the sum of my minor life accomplishments than most "celebrities" do, but I do have enormous respect for truly quality musicians and actors, etc. who aren't just exploiting good looks and/or "sleeping" with the right people, and I definitely consider Crosby to be a truly quality musician. My only complaint about the book was that It seemed to skip around a bit and left me wondering where I was chronologically, but I say "seemed" because that could have just been me. Other than that I liked the format very much.
