The Wallace Sword, if it’s genuine, is an awe inspiring artefact. You can’t really get a sense of scale from this CC-BY-2. It has been in the National Monument since 1888; moved from Dumbarton Castle where it had been on display from around 1800. By comparison with other pieces Meyrick decided that the Wallace Sword looked like it dated from the second half of the 15th century. The sword was sent back to Scotland in disgrace. We’ve heard this argument already though, this was the precise analysis Rogers’ was responding to in his 1888 defence of the sword.

No other written records of the sword are found for a further three centuries. In 1875 a letter from the War Office informed that the sword, in 1825 was sent to the Tower of London to be repaired. At that time it was submitted to Samuel Meyrick by the Duke of Wellington for examination.
Like a sword, Dr. Tom Wallace's sermons cut; they pierce to the core of an issue. ISBN13: 9780873987929. Release Date: August 2000.
